I rate this a 3 out 5 because of the support that was given as well as the lack of support. I was here as an adolescent a few months ago. This should be near to last resort in my opinion. The staff here are nice, they will hear you out and give you a voice. But thats coming from someone who is typically considered "well behaved." As well there is some who treat you as if your prison inmate...this is a mental health facility not a juvenile correction place. One of their rules is "no staff splitting" even though they do that themselves. I had a hard time getting my stuff from property when i needed it in the morning time due to lady problems. I asked help many times yet was denied. And I am not saying that I was completely denied but I was unable to receive what I needed until 5pm, and I told them along the lines of "it shouldn't have to take emotion to get something done, I understand you guys have a list of things that need to get done, but I am a mental health patient, if I express myself that I'm not comfortable then that means its a problem." Earlier that day we went to the gym and because I was uncomfortable and denied I was extremely upset. They started trying to call down to property when this emotion was expressed and ignore the words that I was saying. I should have wrote direct reviews on the staff there, because its a selected few, and even that selected few still had positive change in behavior afterwards which I appreciated a lot. Once the staff learned me as a person it was easier to talk to them and to communicate. The food was honestly not that bad, it isn't horrible its just barely seasoned but they do have lots of salt & pepper packets. They do this because of the patients who have high blood pressure or at least cant eat too much sodium (I'm not a doctor I dont know 😅). The guy for the food who served us was phenomenal! Good personality, respectful, awesome, caring and understanding. The nurses are good, one really lacked professionalism, stated out loud his own concerns, I get it, its not an easy unit to maintain, but we are just kids. Night shift was phenomenal!! Except, this one lady only reason I say that is because she didn't have a grip on the kids. Gave everyone way too much freedom then what we were allowed to, she barely respected herself and I say that because she said "respect others and I guess respect me" or at least along the lines. This one other night shift lady was awesome! Between her and this other one they treated us with respect as growing young adults, because she respected herself and us.

Little heads up for the discharge lady, she doesnt care. She was "professional" to an extent. She attempted to relate but also told me "your going to have a hard time in life." ALL BECAUSE I SAID "I think you want me to agree with you." Once again, was a MENTAL HEALTH PATIENT.

It’s hard leaving a review for this, but to any parents out there, I’m super thankful for The Vines and the staff there. Super communicative, if I had any questions they answered them. It was the most stressful and anxiety inducing week of my life having a child in there, but they were kind, helpful, and supportive providing the help my child needed. The nurses and staff went out of their way to get food to accommodate allergies. I’m thankful for the care and therapy received, and most of all that they were safe.

I have to admit that being transferred to the vice was not my choice. I had no say the matter I probably spent 10 hours during the process from one hospital to the next coming from the Meridian in Lake City.
After that, everything went very smoothly. I have to say that the staff were all very professional and provided excellent insight as to the process that I was going through and That I had no idea of what to expect.
This is a tough transition for everybody and while I believe that it was overkill in my case I can appreciate The Magnitude of the process and White necessary.
I received excellent care and advice and counseling. The food was acceptable on a scale of one to 10. I’d say the food was a 7 Considering The situation.

Not pleased with many things. Some of the staff were rude. Didn't like the insane times for visiting hours. My husband was there for a week, I only heard from a doctor briefly one time. No other idea what treatment was given. Got a brief call about discharge instructions. I was handed a manila envelope with instructions. It said his prescriptions were emailed to our pharmacy. They weren't. The papers said I was there during the discharge instructions. I wasn't, but I sure would have been if given a chance.

Ok so my Mom had a bad anxiety attack Saturday September 27 she was brought to poinciana medical where then they released her to the vines medical clinic. She was baker acted I was told an I know now that there is a 72 hour hold on a patient, Ok this is my first time dealing with a situation like this and the fact that it’s MY MOM I’m very concerned… like anyone would be so learning she was there at the vines and seeing all these negative reviews and comments about this place! I’m now giving a bad/ ok review of this place! They haven’t called me about any update on my mom and how she’s doing I been calling up there every so often since and haven’t heard anything! And then this “receptionist “ named Sara she is the one who has been answering the phone. She Sucks! She’ll just transfer me over to a nurse or therapist and still NO ANSWER I have left messages on their voice mail still NOTHING! I am getting very frustrated and upset that I’m just going to be paying them a visit soon. Hopefully get through to someone when I get there! My opinion worst experience of dealing with a mental health clinic would not recommend anyone to voluntarily send your family member here PERIOD! Haha they won’t even let u post your review if they don’t get at least one star pathetic! I hope my view of them change when I show my face there at they clinic! I just want an update on my mom that’s it! That’s all! Ok so I finally heard from my mom! Thank God ❤️ the place may not be so bad after all but overall they need to do better with communicating with concerned family members that’s just asking about their family that’s there!

I went here and went to a sober program from here and when I went to the silver program, I tested positive for fentanyl because the vines gave me risperidone with either fentanyl in it or risperidone that gave a fentanyl test a false positive either way the staff is inconsistent The showers are not cleaned great and the programming is not conducive to better you a better you is the camaraderie of the people around you going through the same misery that you are the only good thing is the food. There are some great fantastic staff members, but there are also some who are not so great

Poor Communication and Major Gap in Care
A family member was residing at The Refuge, a partial hospitalization facility in Ocala, FL starting on 5/16 and was put under a Baker Act and sent to The Vines on Saturday 5/17. After a nearly 10 day stay was transported back to The Refuge to restart the PHP process.

Within a few weeks it was clear that patient was still not doing well in the open environment and was once again sent to The Vines on 6/10/2025.

The patient authorized me to have access to their treatment. Multiple times over the weeks I would call to get information from nurses, therapists, doctors that I was authorized to have and would not get a return call after leaving multiple voicemails/emails.

The disregard for family and supporters who will be soley responsible for their 'after care' once discharged was sub-par and very frustrating. As the person responsible for aftercare it was critical that I not only speak to the doctor(s) treating them but also provide the therapists information regarding the history for a better diagnosis.

On 7/6/2025 a nurse at The Vines noticed the patient had bad lethargy and was concerned that patient needed to be assessed at the ER for bloodwork levels. The nurse contacted me (I was surprised to actually hear from someone) who told me of the issue and that patient would 'return to The Vines' after he was cleared at AdventHealth Ocala. Within about 2 hours the patient called me from AdventHealth ER and stated the following.

"The ER has discharged me and I don't have a ride."
"What do you mean you don't have a ride?" I asked.

Patient stated the ER was not responsible to transport them back to the Vines hospital where patient was under psychiatric care. I called the ER and confirmed this to be true. I then called The Vines immediately and spoke with a nurse superintendent on duty who stated "It's not their responsibility to pick patient up because he was in a 'voluntary' status'. We live 3 hours away. Patient was sent to the ER with no money, no phone, no shoes on, heavily medicated and after clearing the ER was discharged from Advent Health. The Vines had not yet discharged patient nor had given the patient or us any indication that discharge was imminent. Clearly having been overmedicated and sent to the ER there should have been simple questions asked about transportation to and from or if he had family in town. I guess The Vines figured the patient would just walk out of the ER and back through a city the patient doesn't live in with no shoes, no money or phone and safely return while sedated on anti psychotic medication.

How is it possible that The Vines, a registered and licensed state facility treating someone for a psychiatric issue for nearly 30 days could initiate an ER visit and then just 'hope' that patient walks out of the ER and has the wherewithal to hitch a ride or know the direction to walk the 3 miles back to the Vines? We immediately got on the road and drove 3 hours from Tallahassee hoping patient would stay at the ER and wait for us to arrive. Luckily the patient did and when we got there patient was sitting outside in a sedated state and according to patient upon questioning, wearing the same shorts and t shirt for the entire stay at The Vines. We drove patient home 3 hours wondering how on earth this was possible trying to imagine the patients who did not have a family member or friend to pick them up and return them to The Vines for proper care and processing. They could have picked patient up in 5 minutes and safely returned them to continue care or at least could have asked "logistical questions" prior to sending to the ER. This is an abject failure and I can only imagine how many other patients have been stranded in this scenario with loved ones who are not living in Ocala. When I have to convince the patient daily on the phone to 'trust the professionals' and work to get better while under the care at a facility such as The Vines, I'm entrusting that the process has no gaps.

We were wrong to trust that.

My sister was Baker Acted to The Vines. Poor communication with family and staffing complaints from her while she was there. The phone on her floor was broken and she had to use the one at the nurses station. She was released after 5 days showing little to no improvement in her condition. No notice was given to family that she was being released. A business does not have to take care of customers that are forced to be there.
