I love Dr. Whalen as a doctor. I’ve seen him for years and always enjoyed speaking with him as he doesn’t rush you and listens to you carefully. But it’s a real shame that IBH office is a freakin joke. I have always been a good and diligent patient with all my visits and calls made to them. So when I was told that it’d be considered a “no show” when I arrived at my 1:40 appt at 1:40 instead of 1:20, I was pretty ticked off that they refused to see me. I have arrived within that timeframe plenty of times and had no issue until today. I refuse to pay them $50 when I arrived at the appointment time. It doesn’t even take 5 minutes to check my bp and weight, so it’s not like they are inconvenienced by my arrival time. I also don’t even have to pay a copay with my insurance, so giving them $50 is them just profiting off excessive rules.
If I was constantly cancelling or not showing up, I’d totally understand the fee. Since it is there to prevent those kind of issues. But the outright refusal to waive the fee for certain circumstances is just poor service and lack of care toward the patients. I’ve heard much worse stories about this with other patients being turned away as well. So I’m done with them at this point. Sorry Dr. Whalen, I’ll miss you. Maybe IBH can reconsider their policies when they continue to lose good patients. As of now IBH is just adding on to the lack of good mental healthcare available for our area.

I have seen dr Whalen numerous times and been pleased. Today I had a appointment at 4:20 they called yesterday to confirm it was at 4:20. Well today I get there at 4:22-23 and they refused to see me I drove 20 miles traffic was not great. That's beside the point I have general anxiety not a big deal just need med refill but what if I had walked in on the verge of doing something bad to myself or someone. I was seeking mental help and to be turned away because of 2 mins is a joke. I was told by the office manager I was supposed to be there at 4:10 but when they called they never mentioned it just said 4:20. I like Whalen as a dr but he was the one who ultimately said to reschedule and I would completely understand if I was 15-30 mins late but even at that you are dealing with people with mental issues big and small. We call to get a appointment and always 2-3 weeks out and get there to be turned away I just don't like it. If they want you there at 4:10 then the patient should never be told 4:20 to eliminate confusion
