My father-in-law was in this facility. They made him very comfortable. The nurses were knowledgeable. He was a medically complex patient, and we did not have any issues with his stay. The team of therapist worked with him at his own pace. The support staff helped him and his girlfriend with anything they needed. I would definitely use this facility again.

The staff are friendly and very helpful, the nursing staff and CNAs are a bit overwhelmed at times. Physical Therapy is excellent. The thing that really takes from the center is lack of cleanliness, cross contamination, not following recommended procedure for patient care. I was there almost a month and our drinking cups were only washed and sterilized once. They did improve their dietary toward the end of my stay. Like I said previously, the staff are very friendly and helpful, but their knowledge and practice of aseptic technique is poor.

The Pines in Hot Springs has had many improvements over the last year. They combined buildings making staff to patient ratio better. The staff is ready and willing to help. They have a new Administrator and new Director of Nursing. APRN rounds daily and Medical Director is in once a week and they can call him in an emergency situation. Therapy team does a wonderful job. Meals have improved and all current OLTC regulations are properly enforced.

My stay there was a nightmare! My first 2 days I had no pain meds from compression fracture of T8 and recent elbow surgery. Miscomunication as to my physical therapy req had me doing things I was told by the doctor not to do and was hard to be believed. When the surgeon asked that my elbow dressing be changed n irrigated 2 times a day, was only done once a day and poorly irrigated leading to many weeks of packing n another surgery to heal.
My bipap was taken by hospice when I was admitted and the 3 weeks I was there they did not provide one. I was informed by my aerocare provider that they attempted to bill that to my medicare n were supposed to pay for that themselves, so never provided, resulting in my calling 911 and being readmitted to hospital with acute respiratory distress and had to be put on the trilogy vent from now on from such low oxygen saturation levels reaching 60-65 percent in my sleep and my ability to do therapy was greatly reduced. Now when I am placed on hospice care again with end stage copd they will not pay for the trilogy or the bipap,so when the time comes that down hill slide will indeed be a short one from the new lungs capacity loss. Also unless you smoke you are not allowed outside even in the fenced areas regardless of your level of awareness being healthy. It was the same for my daughter in 2012 and I was disappointed that no improvement in care has been realised. The bathrooms are shared and have inappropriate fixtures. The call lights have no auditory alarm, only a light above door in hallway and I myself had to holler at people passing by for assistance
At night only 2 aides work 6 halls for patient care and getting patients up n dressed or changed n cleaned. There has got to be changes made to improve these areas.

The staff lets your loved one lay in bed and rot, literally till the bed sores are many inches deep and wide, refuses to get "alternate" meals, wants to throw peanut butter and jelly sandwich at your loved one and call it a meal. If your loved one drops their water cup, the staff will REFUSE to fill it back up with water.

Staff is friendly and courteous. They answer all of my questions. They show compassion and care for their residents. They address any concerns I have in a timely manor. The care is excellent.
