My sister was here recently and I would give zero stars except for the few friendly staff members. She had been there 9 & 10 years before and it appears there has been no updates or painting since. One RN was so rude three times back to back that I was actually afraid to leave thinking if she’s that bad when family is here, there’s no telling how she is when no one is here. One example is when she and an aide were in after a bathroom visit and my sister had repeatedly stated she wanted to lie down. This was about 4:30pm so it meant she’d have to eat dinner in bed which she was fine with. The RN was so rude to her and said we don’t have time to come put you back in the chair then back to bed tonight! Then she rolled the chair out of the room and hid it! The food was disgusting 90+% of the time - although the menu made it look good. The PT and OT personnel were sweet as can be - but seriously they got her 50 min plus time there and back per day and said that’s all they allow. So 23 hours in her room and she wasn’t able for family to take her out. The bedside commode had two legs bent - one so bad I couldn’t imagine putting anyone in it. The time to get anyone in there for bathroom assistance was so long she had at least three accidents. After two full days thank goodness my niece decided to put her somewhere else. The second place gives three hours OT/PT plus group therapy another hour l. It’s like a hosp setting where they see drs and the staff acted like they liked their job. It made my sister want to look nice and try harder. GHRC used to be a nice place but please don’t send a loved one there!

As a healthcare provider in Etowah County for many years and having utilized the services of this facility for members of my own family, I have nothing but the best things to say about the professionals caring for both their short term and long term residents.

If I could give ZERO stars I would. This is the most unprofessional rehab center in the state of Alabama. I cannot imagine there being one worse than Gadsden Health and Rehab. Please, for the sake of your loved ones, do not take anyone you love or care about to this place. They are mean, angry, starve their patients, and refuse to give prescribed medicines. This has been the worst experience for my family member. I have a phone conference set with someone at the state level and with a group who specializes in patient abuse. I will update my review after. Again, do not use this facility.

My mother was there following surgery for a broken hip. PLEASE do not take your family member to this facility. Admissions staff is nice, some of the nurses are cordial, but that's where it ends. The most important part of a rehab stay is the recovery care & rehab program, and they miss the mark in every aspect. Abysmal rehab program MAYBE once per day. In my mother's case she is on several important meds for a disease she's battling and they never did get her medicine schedule straightened out. Meds were always late (including pain meds) although she would remind the nurses of her schedule ahead of time. When she needed assistance with something she would ring the call bell and wait on average 30-45 minutes before anyone acknowledged her, and then she'd wait longer to actually get the help she needed. In one case the rehab tech left her sitting in a chair in the room and told her to ring her bell when she was ready to get back in bed because he knew she could not get up unassisted and couldn't sit in the chair more than 20 minutes without intense pain. At 30 minutes she started ringing the bell because she needed to use the bathroom and lay back down. Nobody came and she ended up using the bathroom where she sat because she couldn't hold it anymore, and kept ringing the bell. 2 1/2 HOURS later someone came to help her after she sat in pain, in urine & feces, for all that time. Another small, but important, point is about the inedible food. The food was not edible and always cold. The staff members even made comments to the fact that they know the food is horrible and they don't even eat there as a result. Nutrition is important when trying to rehab & recover and they don't provide adequate or edible food to help the patients. After suffering here for 21 days with ZERO progress I was able to transfer my mother to another facility. She got the care, attention, nutrition, and rehab she needed from a professional facility and was able to get fully recovered and back home after only 14 days. STAY AWAY from Gadsden Health & Rehab!

5/10/19 Mother has been here for over 3 years now. I've been truly impressed by the attentive care the admin staff, the area desk staff, nurses, doc and kitchen staff have displayed. She gets her "hair did" regularly, the rooms are always clean, the medical staff ensures she takes her meds and she's never looked better! She has a delightful roommate and life is far better for her. She has to struggle to find anything bad to say about the facility. .. Great job guys!

Was in this facility from May 20, 2021 till June 9, 2021. The Physical and occupational therapist are great people and know their job and do it very very well. The food is awful!! My room had water running down the wall when it rained!! The nurses, especially the night nurses were going, night nurse was great. Most of the cna were great except for one on the 1st shift she did not care about her job. She would not empty porta pot unless reminded, she'd leave it sit in your room for the next shift to take care of. I had to have meds because I couldn't have a bowel movement. The meds gave me diarrhea, she didn't care, she left me in bed and next shift had to take care of me. Nurses were advised of this girl's lack of care. She was my cna for 5 days and I was thankful when released to go home to be away from her. All in all, except for this one CNA, I would recommend this facility if they could get her to act like she cared about the patients and her job. The know who she is as other patients and staff have complained about her!!

I am extremely disappointed in the care my mother received. The nurses ((aides)) were not timely is distributing medicine, providing assistance and did not communicate her needs during shift change. The faculty is very dated and should be renovated along with some the staff. Unfortunately had to rate this place with 1-Star in order to post my review. It deserves NO star.

My Aunt is staying here after she had surgery for her broken hip. The facility seemed clean and the staff for the most part was very nice. She has a call button if she needs any assistance, and they are very quick to respond. She also has her own room with a tv, and rehab 2x a day in the week days and 1x on Saturday.
