I was able to get free of Yuma Nursing Center 2 days ago but it wasn't easy. It feels like they don't want to let go of the paying customers. I wasn't able to clean myself but a lot of the nurses (I'm using the word "nurse" for all the attendants, whether RNs, CNAs, Interns, Students, whatever) did a literal half-@ssed job of cleaning me when necessary, which caused skin breakdown, bed sores, and terrible itching. Ironically, my requests to shower seemed to fall on "the days they don't give showers." What
Worst of all for me was the food/meals. They considered a hot dog as dinner. I have special dietary needs which I told EVERYONE from the top doc, to everyone who took a meal order, to the nice man from housekeeping, but no one connected to the kitchen really cared that the diet there was making me ill.
[A couple of the nurses were kind to me, as were the PT therapists. Thank you.]

NOW A BAD PLACE - NO LONGER THE GOOD PLACE”
October 9, 2024
Unfortunately recent staff changes and the consequences of those changes which I was able to observe made me remove my mother as quickly as I could. The head of nursing offered no help in getting my mother removed safely. She even told me corporate did not allow her to offer help though corporate later told me Yuma Nursing Center’s Physical Therapists were definitely able to help. Fortunately I was able to reach the Executive Director who got those therapists for us while the director of nursing stood by her office door still saying her hands were tied. I know my mother’s life could have been in danger had I left her here. So sad to see such an excellent place change so drastically.

My 100 year old mom who has dementia and had pneumonia was in YNC recovering. I visited with her often and for hours at a time.

I was extremely impressed with the care she was given and the competency of all staff members.
I had no doubt my mom was in a safe place.
It became clear as time went on that the physical therapy she was receiving and the special diet to help with her swallowing issues were successful. She is now home and doing well thanks to the folk at YNC.

Old Review
The facility is older and has a worn look, but spotlessly clean and always smelled fresh.
Again it was and is the competency and caring of the nursing staff, the CNA’s, the therapists, the food service staff and the housekeeping staff all working together that makes YNC the good place it is.

After leaving YNC and returning home for a period of time, my mother fell and fractured her back.
She was airlifted to St. Joseph’s in Phoenix, placed in the ICU and in time released with a brace especially made for her. She went directly from the hospital to YNC where she has resided for a year. My mother will be 102 in 3 months. She is THRIVING at YNC.
I have spent 41 or the last 45 days visiting with my mother at YNC. I have never stayed less than 2 hours a visit with my usual visits lasting 4-6 hours. In some ways I feel I am a “fly on the wall” observing without judgement. However, I see what I see.

I am more impressed than ever with YNC and the staff in all departments from Nursing to Housekeeping. They genuinely care. They are always full of thoughtfulness and kindness. They are always ready to help more than necessary, and, of course, everyone’s competency is A+.
YNC is more than ever THE GOOD PLACE.
I return to my home in New Orleans knowing my mom will continue to thrive until I see her again in October.

To all the staff that helped take care of my Tata Bart during his stay at your facility…..THANK YOU!!

The staff at Yuma Nursing Center deserves immense praise for their unwavering dedication to their residents. From the moment we stepped through the doors, we were greeted with warmth and professionalism. The entire team, including nurses, caregivers, and support staff, demonstrated an unparalleled level of expertise and genuine compassion. They created a sense of community and treated my grandfather and our family as an extension of their own.

The nursing home's commitment to providing outstanding care was evident in every aspect of my grandfather's experience. The staff went above and beyond to ensure his physical, emotional, and mental needs were met.

The rooms were spacious, well-maintained, and thoughtfully designed to promote a homely atmosphere. The common areas were vibrant and welcoming. The attention to cleanliness and hygiene standards was exceptional, further reinforcing our confidence in the nursing home's commitment to excellence.

The physical therapy and occupational therapy staff are amazing! I have been to other rehab facilities and did not see the vast improvement I have experienced with Yuma Nursing Center. I am walking on my own with no cane or walker!!! They are miracle workers!
