We recently delivered our son at Chambersburg Hospital last month and were so pleased with the experience. I did not want to deliver at this hospital based off reviews I saw and a negative experience in the ER, but due to circumstances out of my control, this is where we ended up.

The Labor and Delivery Department was amazing and everyone we encountered was so helpful and caring. They made the stressful experience easier to go through. We went in on a Friday night and didn't leave until Sunday so we did interact with many of the wonderful staff on this floor, but wanted to shout out a few specifically.

First impressions matter and the first nurse we dealt with was Katie and she was so kind and understanding of all my concerns. I feel like she helped set the tone for our hospital stay overall and treated every concern and question I had with compassion and respect.

Dr. Lackie was the Anesthesiologists and while I did have some issues with the epidural, he was very attentive and gentle, especially once i voiced my fear of getting the shots. He checked on me numerous times after the injection and even came to congratulate us after our baby was born.

Marielena was definitely our favorite nurse and we got to have her on both wings of labor and delivery. She was with us before our baby was born and helped me with breathing exercises, getting comfortable, she even held my hand while I was getting injections because she knew how anxious I was. She checked on us constantly and made sure everything in the room was good. After the baby was born, we had her again in the post partum section of L&D a day later and we were so happy to see a familiar face. She was so happy for us and careful while helping both myself and our new baby. She constantly was checking on us and bringing me ice water, and my fiancé blankets and drinks. Any concern I had, she would address right away and if she didn't know the answer, she would find out for us.

Dr. Oreste came in to check over our baby a few times to confirm everything looked good. Every question we had, he had an answer for right away, as well as a story or an example to help us understand what he was trying to get across to us. He was very gentle as well which was appreciated because some videos, doctors don't seem to be super careful while checking over newborns.

Alexus came and showed us how to give the baby a bath and chatted with us a while. She was very patient with both the baby and us nervous parents taking in everything. When we left, she actually helped take us to the car and hugged us goodbye. It really felt like we were leaving family vs leaving a hospital.

My husband was admitted by ambulance to the ER. He had severe chest pains, couldn’t breathe, couldn’t speak, and was turning blue on his hands and lips. His vitals were horrible and he has a history of heart issues and currently has a lung issue that is currently trying to be diagnosed. The nurses and doctors proceeded to treat him like he was crazy and lying about his pain level. They “diagnosed” him with heartburn and indigestion and said we could leave. Not sure where these people got their medical degrees, but I’m pretty sure indigestion doesn’t cause you to turn blue and collapse on the floor. I wouldn’t recommend this hospital to anyone, ever.

My mother was admitted via ambulance ride and suffered from pneumonia and eventually sepsis, but thanks to this hospital, she was able to get better somewhat and no longer had the sepsis when she was discharged. Nurses were nice and very kind, and the first doctor we met at the ER and the priest there was humorous and lightened the mood.
However, I must say that the antibiotics she was given after discharge did nothing but prevent her from getting worse, and I should also say that Fulton, too, wasn't helpful when it came to the antibiotics either. Also, as far as I can remember, they never told us that she had fluid in her lungs, but neither did Fulton either.
In the end, while the people were nice, the meds after discharge weren't effective. If you want a good primary physician, go see Dr. Cohen.

Chambersburg hospital is by far worst hospital we've been to ever...My mom has been ill all year and in need of a transplant...while waiting for transplant she has had many issues with breathing and fluid gathering around her lungs. We have had 4 visits in the last few months and every stay there has been at least one nurse with a nasty attitude . Our current stay i caught the nurse in the hallway talking to other nurses making fun of my mom. On two occasions when the nurse issues were brought up to the floor manager....the managers never apologized or acted sympathetic to the situation. I am disgusted with this hospital and the bedside manner of these nurses

Took my 4 month old there since she had been screaming in pain for 3 hours. Waited an hour in the waiting room. They took me back to a room where I then waited another hour before she was seen. (She was screaming during these 2 hours). When she was seen, doctor said she looked and sounded great. Told me she was teething and gave her Tylenol. Went for a check up at her pediatrician today, turns out she has an ear infection which the hospital checked her ears last night and said they were good. A waste of time being there and not sincere. I’m disappointed.

I had plenty of reasons to go to the ER within the last year. I believe if I go in with a level head my experiences get better. It also could be i have spent so much time there i got employees schedule down and know who to ask for help in the different situations. we all go there for answers, first or last choice in my situations. But I look back at everything the ER deals with and at the end of it all they are human too. I have to say the rooms are cleaner. I use to get sick having to sit there next to blood from the previous patient there on the floor. I have watched them disinfect properly after the use of equipment. this was the first time I have seen that. they talked with us for a solution instead of down to us. I have experienced rare medical situations and the last thing you want to happen is you feeling guilty or stupid for going in the first place. we didn't get all the answers we wanted but we are moving closer to a solutions. I dont expect ER to handle ever problem. it took a process to get into the ER in the first place. I personally leave the miracle work to God.For the people I care about and love I always make sure I do my part. Good job chambersburg hospital ER. I don't believe you hear it enough.

This entire hospital system is improperly managed. It seems there is virtually no communication between the nurses and doctors, and it’s like the care is starting from square one between shifts. The lackadaisical attitude is extremely concerning.

Will put an elderly diabetes patient who can't walk, go to the bathroom, or feed themselves in a cab and drop them off in your driveway. True story over the weekend. Great place to go for malpractice...
