The administration here is disgraceful and the way they treat/talk to their staff is terrible I am not surprised if the patients even according to many reviews on here aren’t treated that well. They are under staff, this administration has no respect for them when they are the only reason this dump is still running. The owner of this place should feel embarrassed. The nursing assistants do what they can with the little they have, they look so exhausted and defeated at times you can tell they are not treated well here, I have even witnessed them being belittled, this place is unprofessional, the place is not clean, sinks are either leaking or flooded, the place is old and needs fixing. Workers come and go in this place I don’t blame them not one bit and it’s unfortunate because this is not good for the patients especially when they have good workers who are caring for them the right way. You call these phones nobody barely answers it will just ring. Many red flags in this facility I wouldn’t suggest it because even the good workers can’t help you because the administration is careless and unprofessional.

I would give less stars if I could. I am writing this review now because my Dad no longer risks staying at this terrible facility. They treated my father in a horrible fashion they robbed any clothes that we brought him and they could not protect him from physical harm. "Somehow " he broke his arm and having serious dementia he was unable to tell us how. He was afraid of the staff and it was a very sad situation. No one should ever trust their loved ones to this facility.

I’ve been calling for two days to verify if my family member is still there. I was told they cannot confirm or deny. This is from the second floor nursing staff. Yesterday I was told he has no phone in his room and will not get up to come to the phone. Bear in mind he is an amputee. You have to call repeatedly to speak to anyone. All lines are primarily voice mail. Does anyone know who regulates this place? I will continue to post my reviews/staff experience until I get resolve. If no resolution I guess I’ll have to call the police department. Horrible place. Poor ethics.

Update: Shortly after my initial post my amputee brother was provided with assistance to leave and was found dead 12 hours later. The NYPD received my contact info from the nursing home and they notified me of his death. The nursing home never contacted me about him leaving or to extend condolences. Keep your loved ones away from this place.

I have worked closely with the administrator and the liaison, PJ- what a wonderful experience I have encountered at all times. The grounds are clean and everyone is friendly. I recommend this facility to everyone looking for a place for their loved one .

The Admissions Department and it's team members are usually the first point of contact when families have loved ones who enter nursing homes and rehabilitation centers. Having an individual like PJ Rodriguez at Verrazano Nursing & Post-Acute Center is comforting for families. PJ inhabits a great personality, he is dedicated, works well with fellow staff members and the families that he works with. He is compassionate, caring and attentive. He has proven to be an asset in his role.

If I could vote negative stars, I would. My father was in this facility for months and I am happy that we finally were able to get him out of there. This facility is severely understaffed. There is usually 1 nurse and 1 aide per floor for all the patients. They leave patients in bed, and sometimes will have the patients go without food, water, or assistance of any kind. My father was lucky because his roommate's daughter would feed him when she would visit her father. Over holidays (my father was there for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years) there was 1 nurse FOR THE ENTIRE FACILITY. Patients received NO FOOD except for what my father's roommate's daughter brought into the facility. Unless you have the time to be at this facility EVERY DAY to do all the work for them, DO NOT GO HERE. Neglectful doesn't even describe this place strongly enough. They also have utilized completely staged pictures for their google listing. Please do not think this place ever looks nice. They will also lie about patients. My father had a fall while at their facility and they tried to gaslight him into thinking he imagined it while he had blood up and down his arm. I could go on forever. Just don't go there.

Absolutely horrible facility and an unprofessional staff. Watching the DON yell and disrespect the staff in the hallways and dining room is ridiculous. The residents and family deserve a peaceful and safe place to stay. I will not be bringing my family member back. We are looking for a new facility now.

Please! If you love someone DO NOT SEND HIM/HER HERE. My father was admitted on 1-5-23 and by 1-10-23 he was receiving calls about fraudulent transactions on his credit and debit cards. The Staff took his wallet for "safekeeping". I will go after this home to the fullest extent of the law for the harm they did to my family. The Director of Nursing Bernice said "she dont have time for this" and was extremely disrespectful. Please your loved one deserves better!
