Within minutes of tearing my ACL, I had a pretty good idea of what damage was done and was already dreading the long process of surgery and months of recovery. I knew I was going to be missing out on the racing and competition that I thrived on. The doctor recommended I start PT right away, even a month prior to the scheduled surgery which surprised me. I went straight to Runner’s Edge based on their solid reputation among many of the strongest athletes in the state. Morgan and Sydney worked with me for the month before surgery, and now for almost 5 months post-op and have gotten me back very near where I was before the injury. In many ways, I am stronger now than I was before. They challenge me every visit to build not only my strength and conditioning, but my mental confidence in returning to my activities. The recovery process that I was dreading has turned into a fun and challenging activity of its own. Their encouragement and support has kept me engaged and seeking further improvement. I can’t recommend them enough. If you are looking for a place to help with recover from an injury, Runner’s Edge should be at the top of your list.

Runner’s Edge has been pivotal to making progress from my chronic calf injury. After trying over a year to heal on my own, either I had to seek expertise either from a physician or therapist. Since I deduced my injury was non-surgical, I made an appointment (with Zuzanna). She was skilled in her exam and knowledge of running physiology. She quickly realized the dynamics of my injury, resulting from my non-physiologic stride. She provided me with tools to remedy this on my own and when I returned in 3 weeks, much progress had been made. I was able to continue with my self-therapy. After another month, I was able to rejoin my running groups without relapsing. As a success story and a physician myself, I highly recommend consulting RE. This type of assistance can’t be undervalued for one’s health.

If you are an athlete - of any age - and have an injury or surgery, this is the place to go! Spotless facility. Superb equipment. Incredible expertise. I have been to a number of PT facilities in ANC … none come close in comparison. Thank you Runners’ Edge staff.

I sustained an elbow injury in the fall that threatened to sideline me for the cross country ski season. A friend recommended I contact Zuzana Rogers of Runner’s Edge. Zuzana quickly diagnosed my injury, identified the likely cause, and used a combination of treatment approaches that enabled me to keep training and have one of my most successful race seasons yet. She knew when to provide encouragement and when to be firm about my need to make short-term adjustments to meet my longer-term fitness and racing goals. I am so grateful to Zuzana and Runner’s Edge for keeping me in the game!

I’m a 73 year old female who exercises obsessively for more than 50 years. Run, swim, bike, ski, earlier softball and racquetball. All cardio fitness preoccupation. I’ve had my share of injuries but darn, my body is showing a little wear. About 6+ months ago I started having some left hip “clicking/pain.” One person I saw said my pain was caused by SI joint and advised stretches. I over stretched daily hoping to “heal” quicker. Didn’t work. I first went to Runners Edge and Zuzana diagnosed glute medius tendenopathy and weak muscles in that area. I called it a gimpy, no-good” left leg. Susana taught me so much about the body, good health in general, and drew personalized stick figure exercises for me to practice. The purpose was to strengthen the weak muscles while reining in my habit of overdoing everything. Each week she built on the exercises and I did improve. Then she recommended a hip x-ray just to rule out anything serious in the hip. Good news- X-ray said, “moderate deterioration due to age” or something like that which was a relief to me. Suzan’s advised me to work with Helen Cortes for continued p/t loading and strengthening. More personalized stick figure drawings each seemingly “invented” just for me. Either it’s through experience, training, or imagination, it felt like Helen was the best friend I ever had! She was caring to the limit and , somehow or other, helped me follow directions. I did not have a daily exercise plan, but a weekly plan with loading exercises to do and how much hiking, swimming, biking was “allowed.” The goal for me is avoiding overdoing that tendon, building strength, and eventually returning to all my play habits. Overdoing it has been a lifelong habit. I don’t know why Helen has gotten through to me. I know she spends time beyond our appointments trying to help me because we exchange emails and communicate weekly. Today, that tendon is not 100% but I’m hiking hills again and exercising, not carefree but carefully. I can NOT skip my post exercise single leg bridges or curtsy’s with 10 pound weight, or my lower leg holds with yellow rubber band. Helen will say that I’ve worked hard. But I will say, “I could not be continuing hiking, swimming, biking without her care.

I went to Runner's Edge to rehab a hamstring injury so I could get back to playing hockey. I had already jumped back to hockey twice too early and re-injured myself. Runner's Edge was helpful both with a strengthening program but also with metrics and experience to keep me from going back too soon a third time. Now I am back playing hard without pain. I worked with Morgan Lash PT and Helen Cortes PTA. I found both friendly, helpful and encouraging. If I was injured again I would return.
