River's Bend has been an established facility in that area for a long time. Several of my family members have been residents there. The facility has many new employees who have years of long term care experience and chose to work at River's Bend to improve the quality of care and the lives of the residents. I did not give them a 5 star because every facility is always striving to improve.

PLEASE read before sending your loved one to River's Bend:

It is important to note, as of the time of writing, the 3 of 3 reviews with a positive rating are all from employees at River’s Bend or their management organization, Saber Healthcare. Also important to note, Saber is a management company as this is their way of removing all liability from themselves or any patient recourse for the terrible things this facility will do. Saber will promise their backing of a major organization to put potential residents and their families at ease so they choose River’s Bend and then when everything goes wrong, they will back off.

One can clearly see through the nursing home surveys on the PA Department of Health website, River’s Bend is anything they promise to be. They provide subpar care, and the resulting damage to their residents up to and including patient death. As also shown on their nursing home surveys in the past year, while the DOH will cite the facility for their deficient practices they will then close out the case without the deficiency ever being resolved because the same issues are brought up time and time again in subsequent surveys.

If you or your loved one go into River’s Bend, they will bank off the confusing process and will blatantly lie to you to get you into the facility. Once they get you in there, it is too late to do anything about it. Care planning is non-existent, upcoding, unbundling, overmedication of controlled substances, ignoring patient symptoms, HIPAA violations, the rehabilitation services they provide are an absolute joke, administration has no clue what they are doing; these deficiencies are all covered up using tactics up to and including submitting false and/or altered documentation to cover what they do.

On the other poor reviews, the response is to call the compliance line for Saber C.A.R.E.S. This is a futile effort. The line is managed by a contracted “customer service” organization Saber hired to answer the phone and are instructed to create a report about specific events. The agents who answer this line are rude and do not care about anything. The only thing River's Bend and Saber C.A.R.E.S. about is profit.

The care and atmosphere here is lacking attention to care and cleanliness. Decor is dated and in poor shape. Laundry disappears. Requests by residents go in heeded. Many times you call nursing station and no one answers the phone.

My husband has been trying to call and talk to his mother for 4 days at this facility. We cannot get anyone to help us get her on the phone. His mother is mostly blind so she cannot use a cell phone. We live in another state, so we can't just drop by and see her. There was only 1 person that helped us 1 time. That was it. Very sick of this place and she's only been there less than a week.

$824 million dollar company can't afford a cordless phone in the hallway for patients to receive phone calls from family. Not one person has answered calls to the nurses station for 4 nights in a row. No wonder Saber lost a $10 million dollar suit for understaffing in Charlotte. Short staffed here also. All about the profit.

A great community and a great representation of healthcare in the area. Has been providing great care, and Rehab to patients for short term and residents who have been there for years now. Thanks for all you ladies and gentlemen do to care for our seniors.
