My mom was welcomed with open arms from the staff here on the 2nd floor B. I must say a special thank you to the nursing staff, and support staff
namely Anna, Jen, Donna, Julie and Whitney. I give a special thanks to Marty, who has gone above and beyond to help my mother with getting curtains for her room and moving her television so she can see it. God bless all of these Women! It’s very rare to find people with such caring hearts to deal with the elderly, and the sick. I would recommend anyone who was thinking of placing their family member in a nursing home to look at Pleasant Valley Manor.

For all the negative reviews I suppose nursing care is a very individualized experience. Also it is a nursing home, not a Hilton. It is also an older facility vs. others in the area.

My father's experience was excellent. The staff was extremely attentive and treated my dad with respect. He spent his last days at Pleasant Valley. Everyone from Karen the care manager, Donna the speech therapist, Matt in PT, and Eli and all the nurses were nothing short of exceptional.

It was also reassuring that I could always reach someone by phone for a status update. I would not hesitate to recommend Pleasant Valley Manor to anyone needing nursing care. Thank you to everyone that supported my dad during his stay.

I place my mom and their nursing home here over a year ago they have a lot of issues over there my mom says they're nasty to her over there she rings the bell a and she says they don't come but you take her to the doctor like the gynecologist and they're supposed to do stuff and they don't do it that the gynecologist asked them to do but she take her to the eye doctor and they don't do her eye drops right I have a thoughts about this nursing home if the nurses don't want to take care of old people they shouldn't be a nursing at a nursing home

My brother was a Parkinson's patient and was treated very well over the 4 years he spent at Pleasant Valley Manor. He was well taken care of and one nurse in particular was wonderful to him. The staff was caring and responsive to my questions and concerns. This is a very difficult environment to work in as the elderly and sick require special care. Many patients I observed were combative and uncooperative but the nurses were very patient and understanding of their condition and treated these patients with respect. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone whose need of rehabilitative or long term care!

I'm not describing my own experience yet but I want to say that my boyfriend's grandmother spent the last year of her life there. She was in her 90's and died of Alzheimer's which my mother now has. He had nothing to say other than how wonderful the people there were and how well they cared for her. I went in there a couple years ago looking for placement for my mom and the environment was welcoming, attractive and friendly although they didn't have an available bed. They are classified "nonprofit". This can mean Medicare/Medicaid. Don't be put off by this as the places my mom has stayed so far, the nonprofits were the best functioning facilities in comparison to the "for profit" places as they seemed to be run in a more familial atmosphere. The people seemed to be warmer and more caring. The last "for profit" facility my mother was in, I had to literally legally fight to get her out of while unethical and incompetent activities were going on and it was worse than Whitestone (which is another facility she stayed in). I'm pretty sure they are also "for profit", or at least they were at the time. I'm only giving PV 3 stars just because my own mother hasn't stayed there yet and I'm going by what my boyfriend has told me. I plan on checking them out soon as my mother is going into late stage and will need nursing home placement.

My mother was recently admitted there after a hospital stay for a UTI and wanted to get some short term physical therapy. She was there for 9 days and I ended up taking her out earlier than anticipated. There were several issues. First of all she was supposed to see a doctor and in 9 days no doctor ever visited her room. She had asked several times for a shower and that fell on deaf ears. I had spoken to the office about having a podiatrist come in to cut her toenails because she is a diabetic an she needs to take care of her feet. They told me that someone in house would take care of that and they never did. They don't do physical therapy on the weekends but in 6 weekdays that she was there she received physical therapy only twice. When I signed her admission papers I was told that pt would be workin with her 2 1/2 hours a day at different times, and when they worked with her she was lucky to get 20 minutes total. As far as the food is concerned it is terrible. For the first 10 to 14 days she was supposed to be in isolation because of Covid-19 but was in a room with a woman who had respiratory problems and passed away from pneumonia 2 days after my mother's discharge. When I picked her up she looked malnourished and not well. She is home about a week and is doing 100 percent better. If you are considering putting a loved one in a nursing home please do your homework and stay away from this facility.

I never do this but if you are planning on placing a LOVED one here... I strongly advise against it. First of all over 15 years ago my grandmother died in this facility after a fall because of neglectful incompetent staff... she had a brain bleed and was never checked out by a doctor... we the family were not even told about it. NOW my 62 year old mother just had open heart surgery and the ONLY place her insurance would cover for rehab UNFORTUNATELY was this place. I along with other family members were there twice a day knowing the care is not good. Some of the things that happened:

There is no actual medical care there... I asked nurses-caregivers (I don’t know if they are certified) multiple times medical questions and the response was I need to call the doctor and ask.
I never got any information because the doctor is never there or available.
The doctor did see my mother one time (in almost 2 weeks) my mother had severe pain in her foot and was swelling bad... the “doctor” gave her a DOUBLE dose of pain meds which knocked her out for two days and they suggested putting a diaper on her so they did not have to assist her to the bathroom after she woke up ... mind you she had open heart surgery and needed to be moving with assistance.
9/10 times I went the staff was huddled at the nurses station instead of assisting the many patients they have.
I once walked by a lady in her room knocked out with her face in her food on her tray (while the nurses were huddled at the nurses station)

My mothers incisions were not properly cleaned or cleaned on time and she had bandages from the hospital left on the whole time she was there for NO reason... they just have no medical training there.

The entire place smells like all sorts of bodily fluids everyday...

The only reason my mother is alive is because I called the cardioligist at Pocono explaining my concerns ... he kept in touch and had them running tests and weighing her to monitor her as they should have been and within two days had her removed from the facility and sent back into the hospital.... she was in mild heart and kidney failure .... the staff at pleasant valley had NO idea and she would have died there if I hadn’t called someone.

I had to stop out one more time for medical records the doctor requested... I called 3x over the weekend and was reassured they were ready for Monday morning pick up... I even got a message from the nurse handling my mothers case that she had in fact informed medical records and they were ready. Monday morning comes and medical records knows NOTHING about what she needed.

Be an ADVOCATE for your family members if you send them here there is no medical care and general care is pitiful as well. This is not a rehab facility and they do not provide medical assistance... it is a place to send a 90 year old who likes pain meds.

It’s a shame because they do have awesome people who come from outside and do fun things with them (pay attention to them and their needs) but the full time staff is not trained or supervised well enough to perform the proper care or even give general care/concern to their patients.

Sorry so long... but I wish I would have read a post like this before thinking the place had gotten any better...

For the owner who keeps responding to send emails for more info on the negative reviews... I provided my information here.... you need to supervise your facility MUCH more and hire more COMPETENT CARING staff. These are people’s loved ones treated like cattle in your facility! And I’m sorry I hate to do this I never leave posts like this but you need to make changes.

I was on a visit in this location visiting a family friend that I haven't seen in some time . There was this really nice woman that directed my to the room I was looking for , I am not sure if she was a nurse or not but her name was Pat. The room was not far from the station area she was at and I stepped out in the hall to take a call I was waiting for when I over heard this black woman talking bad about this woman that seemed so pleasant ( Pat ) ... The profanity and mouth on the black woman was disgusting. Her and what looked like another co worker were plotting against this nice lady trying to get her in trouble . I was appalled that this place let this type of harassment happen . If that is what is happening to nice employees I can only imagine how that woman treats the patients . I am not only posting this here online for all to read but I will be reporting this to the board as well . I hope that this gets read by the right people and I pray that woman , Pat , reports this to their HR department and also consults a lawyer.
Pat, if you ever get to see this post I appreciate your kindness and karma will come around on those two girls. Btw , I know a good lawyer if you need one . That is called a hostile work environment, and no one deserves to have to work with " mean girls " like that .
