My grandfather ended up here. They took decent care of him and staff was mostly nice, but the worst part is my grandfathers watch was stolen after buying it for him right before he died, and the financial office wanted us to pay up-front for medical cost before medical. Terrible experience, and lesson learned.

The CNA and Nurses have been very nice. They listen to your concerns. OT/PT has been great. I feel like the therapy has helped me really strengthen my hip and knee. I have never seen any employee on their cellphone texting and not paying attention to patients.

If I could improve something, it would be to have more activities for the younger patients. I would also like more choices in substitute meal items.

I was incredibly fortunate that my nearly 90 year old mom was placed at Pacific Coast Manor (PCM), nine months ago after a fall. I cannot find enough words to express my gratitude for the incredible care and kindness they have given to my mom during her stay. Everyone from the people at the front desk, the cleaning ladies, care teams, activities leaders, placement leaders, to the management, nurses, and doctors. She thrived there and left in better condition than she had been in for many years. She was groomed, nourished, treated, and much stronger than when she arrived. She can be difficult and has a lot of particularities, and they always found ways to work with her. The staff at PCM have big hearts even with the constant demands they are under. I have so much admiration and respect for them and all that they do. The facility is always clean and buzzing with positive energy and activities. I highly recommend PCM.

It’s never fun going into a rehab center but PCM made the entire experience pleasant. From the front desk staff to the experienced care givers their attention to your personal care, recovery, and general happiness is their top priority. I would recommend anyone needing rehabilitation care to go here! Special thanks to Brian, Jessica, and Mallory for all their excellent work!

I was recently a post-op patient at Pacific Coast Manor for almost two weeks and I cannot say enough about the quality of care. The staff is compassionate, well-chosen and always there to help. Everyone from Admissions, to Discharge, to Dietary, to Physical Therapy, is on the ball. There was never a moment when my needs were not met with a smile. I highly recommend this facility. The nurses and aides are beyond reproach and it was a delight to get to know them....

It‘s a great facility to receive care or rehabilitation after surgery. The social services dept. will make sure patient will have a safe discharge when patient is ready to go to home.

Also, the facility is only 2 minutes away from the beautiful coast line of Santa Cruz.

I took the time to research the extended care facility where I would be spending a minimum of a week. I was truly impressed walking in Pacific Coast Manor. The first you see is a PT area busy and focused. I was given a wonderful tour by the head of the PT department.
I saw it was clean saw the awards received many years ago and frankly this appeared to be excellent. So this was where I chose to stay. I was transported there from Stanford Hospital one week after a lumbar infusion.
NOW I WAS A PATIENT AT PCIFIC COAST MANOR.
What was not shared or obvious on my original tour is yes you know you share a double room, however, it was not revealed you share a toilet with 4 patience. Rarely was the toilet empty or cleaned.
The facility was understaffed. A pushed button for assistance took 20 minutes for an LVN to respond, Once I was yelled at by a nurse who frantically came in to personally inform me I needed to wait until 5 other patients were taken care of. I was shocked I was not a demanding patient. I was there because I had needs to be in a facility that is paid a huge fee by my insurance..now ask about the honest and present patient to staff ratio. How sterile is the area are you seated ? I was going to take my first shower after a lumbar infusion..my incision was so low it was dangerously close to other areas. If not for the love, concern, of my daughter I would not have been kept clean enough.
My story starts from contacting an infection from a hospital. One year later I am in this facility with a new spine. I must protect and honor the skilled surgery I received to be able to walk and live a move decently in my future..
My opinion is based on my personal experience. The facility is run very departmentalized. It depends what level you work at and once you complain you are labeled. On more than one instance a nurse would comment to me they thought I would be different.
The food is unbelievably bad. My family brought me the food I ate. Many of the real workers did their best. They worked hard took care of the patients the best they could. Shame on many of the so called nurses not answering a button after 20 minutes is litigious. Pacific Coast Manor is under staffed and does not treat the needy patients particularly in the middle of the night adequately. UNFORTUNATELY, THIS IS THE BEST THE AREA AND INDUSTRY HAS TO OFFER.
