AVOID AT ALL COSTS – A DANGEROUS, UNDERSTAFFED FACILITY!

While there are many kind and hardworking professionals at Novato Healthcare Center, they are clearly stretched far too thin. During the time my father was under their care, they received three citations from the State of California—a glaring red flag about the quality of their operations.

The most horrifying part? My father suffered a fall that they never even told us about. It wasn’t until he was transferred to a new facility that we discovered he had a broken clavicle—a clear case of neglect and malpractice.

This place isn’t about care—it’s about profit. The facility is owned by a slumlord who runs 80+ similar facilities in what appears to be a private equity-style model, where they squeeze every last cent out of their residents rather than investing in adequate staffing and proper medical attention. No wonder they can’t seem to retain good people.

If you value your loved one’s health and dignity, STAY AWAY. This place is a disgrace.

My 66 year old brother was here for a year. He is psychotic manic depressive and needed to rehab from surgery. Every single staff member was open, transparent, collaborative, empathetic and professional. All the key staff gave me their phone numbers and encouraged me to communicate with them. Each month there was a zoom conference call with me and representatives from all departments to discuss progress, issues and goals. Because of my brother's mental issues there were accommodations, creative problem solving and hard work by every level of staff. My brother was hospitalized twice for medical issues while at Novato Healthcare and they quickly assessed the situations and rapidly got him the in-depth medical care he needed. My brother has moved into a residential house nearby and I will insist he return to Novato Healthcare if needed in the future. He has been to over a dozen institutions and Novato Healthcare has been the best experience he's had in 35 years. We are immensely thankful and grateful to all the staff.
