Dr. David Wilhelm is the best dentist I have ever had! I've been with him since 1976 and see no reason to change. He is so knowledgeable and charming, funny, and handsome. He never hurts during injections....in fact , he makes me giggle during them.

His office is absolutely gorgeous. It makes you feel like you are in a model home while waiting. The furnishings and decor are fabulous. He always has beautiful fresh flowers, freshly baked cookies, coffees, water, etc...everything to make you feel at ease.

His staff is first rate and charming too. They really care about you and try to make you as comfortable as possible.

Before meeting him, I used to dread going to a dentist, but not now. The only thing I dread now is my rotten teeth and the price I have to pay. At least I have Delta Dental.

The staff at Newport Dental Arts always greeting me with a smile allowing me to feel welcome and appreciated. They use the latest dental technologies even providing television for patients to watch during treatments. The Dental Hygienist and dentist are also very friendly, skillful and patience in explaining treatment options. They patiently explains treatment options and answer questions during the examination. They are very skillful and gentle during cleaning, performing the examination and treatments.

The difference between a "good" dentist and the "BEST" dentist goes far beyond skill, knowledge and experience. What makes a dentist the best is their dedication to their craft and ensuring they went beyond the patients expectations while in their chair.

After today, I have 100% confidence that if you can get an appointment at Newport Dental Arts and Dr. Wilhelm consider yourself lucky and know you are in the best hands possible for your teeth.

I drove from Beverly Hills (where we supposedly have the best everything) because I had been to multiple dentists that were baffled by a complex cavity on two adjoining teeth which were extremely difficult to clean, repair and fill. I had met Dr. Wilhelm while he was in LA and after hearing about his practice I did my research and knew he was the man who could fix my issue.

I made my appointment with ease and took the hour long drive to Newport from LA......

Parking: Parking was extremely easy. The dental practice is right off Bristol Street in an office building that is marked well so you can easily find it as you pull up in your car. There were plenty of spaces and it was a 15 foot walk to the front door of their practice

First impression: : When you walk through the doors of Newport Dental Arts you immediately are put at ease as you essentially walk into a luxurious library waiting room that would be well suited in any architectural digest magazine. Over-size comfortable seating, gorgeous lighting, a fantastic built-in, with a perfect accent rug - for a moment, I had wondered if I was in a dentist office? The smell was of baked cookies which apparently are oven made around the clock so you don't smell that familiar "dental office smell" which can turn any patient into a scaredy cat right away. I sat on the sofa and watching the flat TV in their waiting room for about 5 minutes before the hygienist/assistant called my name. ps. the office looks so nice, I sent it to my friends who thought I was in 5 star hotel.

The examination: The dental assistant Jamie sat me in the seat and the examination rooms are just as comfortable and luxurious as the waiting room. Gorgeous wood floors and a flat screen TV above your head immediately put me at ease. I should note again there was ZERO of the smell you are used to at the dentist office...not sure how they do it but it works. I needed x-rays in in a matter of 15 minutes, their high-tech system took all my x-rays. Typically at this point, I wait a while for the Doctor, but Dr. Wilhelm arrived within 5 minutes of my x-rays appearing on the screen and began to explain what was needed to fix my cavity. Dr. Wilhelm took a good 10 minutes to show me the decay and explain the process to fix the issues - no one else had taken so much time to explain the procedure.

The procedure: I hate needles. HATE. My heart races, my mouth goes dry and I literally want to freak out. My cavity was deep and I needed to be very numb - Dr. W used a numbing gel before he placed the needle in my gum and I felt NOTHING from the needle. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being excruciating pain I felt 0. I actually needed 3 needles because I don't numb easily and I can't say I felt anything all 3 times. This man is a miracle worker. My cavity was fixed within 25 minutes.

I will end this review by telling you I can't put into writing the effort and care Dr. Wilhelm put into my appointment today. I know for a fact that Dr. Wilhelm could have filled this cavity like the other 3 doctors with just enough attention to make me functional for a bit - but you have to be in his presence to understand that he far exceeds expectations by actually really CARING about his work and the outcome of your treatment. He is obsessed with perfection.

and if you can find ANYONE who knows their craft as well as Dr. Wilhem and obsessed with perfect consider yourself lucky. I do. My tooth is finally 100% repaired and I am very grateful.
