It’s been 2 ½ years since I saw a lactation consultant here after an extremely traumatic birth. She is the reason I was able to successfully and exclusively breastfeed my daughter for 18 months. She was the first medical professional I saw after leaving the hospital, and I broke down crying in her office. She sat with me and comforted me. I felt like a failure because everyone had told me breastfeeding would come naturally. She reassured me that I was doing a wonderful job with my daughter and that we just needed a bit of extra help after such a traumatic birth. She even went the extra mile and sent me a message later on with recommendations for birth trauma counseling and group sessions. I will forever be grateful for her kind words and for helping me through this incredibly difficult experience. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. ❤️

Hands down the best in Anchorage! Each midwife is so caring and knowledgeable and prepped me well for birth. We switched from AWC at Providence because we wanted to go with someone we knew and trusted well (a personal friend who works at MWHC) and we wanted a wonderful personal experience. We are rather private and didn’t want the hospital experience. With proper preparation from the midwives, the childbirth instructor, and supportive people around us (plus good health for me and baby) we were able to deliver at the birth center unmedicated. It was wonderful and beautiful and I wouldn’t change it. The support we’ve had postpartum with breastfeeding and the few challenges and complications I’ve had is unmatched. IF we have a second baby someday we wouldn’t go anywhere else. My husband and I said once that the staff at MWHC feels like family now after all we’ve experienced with the birth of our baby and with how they know you personally.

I would give midwifery and women’s health care a 10/5 stars if that were possible- they are AMAZING! I told Megan, who delivered my first child, that if she ever moved out of state I would highly consider flying down in my last trimester for any subsequent pregnancies just so she would deliver my second- that’s how much I appreciated her! I met with most of the midwives during my time and all of them were outstanding, patient centered, holistic in their care, and extremely personable. Janie, the birth class instructor, was delightful and so supportive. Trina, front desk, was always a lovely smiling face and checked us in without me having to repeat my name- she made it a point to get to know us. I am positive that the lactation consultant, Jen, is one of the most knowledgeable and experienced in town- she is so empowering. And lastly, Becky the PT, taught me recovery exercises that were practical to do with the baby. All in all, our family was so well taken care of here and we are forever grateful!

I switched from an OB clinic to Midwifery & Women’s Health Care around 30 weeks pregnant. This was the best choice I could have made. My baby and I were so well taken care of during pregnancy, labor, delivery and postpartum. It was very important for me to have agency. I had lost this with the OB clinic, and it was very empowering to regain it. Though a series of interventions needed to occur during labor, I look back on the birth of my daughter in such a positive way. This is largely due to working with the nurse midwives at Midwifery & Women’s Health Care. Eternally grateful!

Can't say enough about this group of midwives. We recently had our 2nd baby boy. Just so grateful especially for Megan, Trina & Kim for how incredible they are. Their friendship, their knowledge & experience and how they work so well together. It has meant a lot to us and to my wife to still have a good and even wonderful experience despite the challenges of child birth.

I recently had my first baby with MWHC at the Anchorage Birth Center. My entire prenatal and postnatal experience has been incredible. I cannot speak highly enough of the midwives. They are so knowledgable, caring, and really listen to all your concern/questions/desires. I enjoyed how every appointment felt personal, not rushed, and thorough. Again, I cannot recommend them enough for all your pregnancy and women's health needs.

I can’t say more than amazing things about this practice! These women are literally there for you and what you want in a birthing experience. No appointment felt rushed, they would answer every question I had with great knowledge. I would go here over and over again if I were having more babies! I will forever recommend this place to anyone having a baby! Seriously 100/10 experience!

After scheduling my appointment, I was called and asked to reschedule and I did. The first time I came in here the visit was great. Everything went well I finished up and went home. This second time was not great. I received a call again hours before my scheduled appointment time asking if I could reschedule. NO, I can not, I'm just as important as everyone else. I have scheduled my life for that day around this appointment, but my life isn't just a phone change away. Please keep that in mind when changing others appointments. Not everyone has a career,
some of us simply have jobs that we can be fired from just by continuously changing said scheduled appointment around. Though I arrived on time, my appointment started about 30 minutes late. After being taken to my room I was then given several more excuses (or so I thought) as to why the simple IUD that I was requesting was to be now reschedule yet again. So I was referred to another place for an ultrasound which came back clear (at first), so I thought maybe they didn't want to do the job. However, I then received a call later from the place of referral and told that Midwifery & Women's Health Care were right that they shouldn't issue a IUD in my condition and I'm greatful that they caught it. Now I have been able to determine other concerns that doctors in the ER weren't able to figure out. Thank you so much Midwifery & Women's Health Care!
