My first visit scheduled with Dr. Carey I waited for 30 min. to get called in, when I was taken to the room I was told that I would have to wait there for another 90 min. I let them know that I don’t have time for that. They then brought in a medical assistant who said, we will need an x ray, I informed them that nothing is broken, they then brought in a nice PA,she did a quick exam and told me that I was correct no X-ray was needed. She prescribed an anti inflammatory and sent me home. When I received the bill, it had me down as seeing Dr. Carey( I never even saw his face…). On my second visit I was scheduled for OMI, I was brought into a room a medical assistant entered and asked ok, so you are here for a shot in your hip. Nothing was wrong with my hip- so I have no idea where she got that from. I was then brought to a different room with Jennifer Malcolm MD, she was very nice and apologetic and did some very light OMI that did not make a difference. She recommended some exercises for my hamstring which is appreciated.
This place seems very disorganized and they clearly are over scheduling to the point that they do t know what they are seeing people for.

McKinley Orthopedic is the best specialized medical facility I have ever been to. From the lovely kind and efficient front desk folks to the top surgeon and surgery staff I always felt that I was being highly taken care of. I plan to recommend Dr and staff to anyone looking for orthopedic assistance.

3 stars because there is room for improvement, which is disappointing given this is a medical establishment. The doctors we have seen here were good. The office management, however, needs to be fired. Poor communication with scheduling (they can't seem to know when their doctors will actually be working), long wait times and telling patients the wrong time to show up for a procedure (our time is valuable too!) is unacceptable. If you have a procedure done here, double check that all your prescriptions were sent to your pharmacy *before* you leave town/go home.

Front staff is very kind and loved both the doctors I saw. Needed to have a tumor removed from my hand and they got me scheduled fast, surgery was under an hr and I was awake which was great because I hate being put under. Aftercare appointments where great and they listened and answered all my questions. Would definitely recommend.

Dr Carey did surgery on both my knee and my ankle and both are definitely better than they were going in!!

He is kind and patient and understanding of your needs. While he listens to your needs and wants, he IS the Dr and will be honest with you about what your body needs and what his suggestions for your care are, all while remaining professional and courteous. I never felt like I wasn't in the best hands in the area!

The staff at the office was always kind and smiling and professional. They knew who I was when I walked in and always had a fun attitude.

10/10 would recommend this office for all of your orthopedic needs!!

I’ve never left a review before. But I am completely done with this facility. Third time coming to this place today. Front service staff has always been kind. I like them a lot! The doctors here? I haven’t had one good experience with them. From not listening to what I have to say, to laughing at my diagnosis I brought them, giving me a treatment I didn’t want and refused to listen to what I wanted. This was my third time coming here today to see if it would be better, but was actually the worst experience yet. All 3 doctors I’ve seen here have treated me like I was nothing. I’m a human being. I paid you for help, not to laugh at me.

I would never come on and do this but hoping this will save a patient! In the last 7 months between my daughter, a family member & friend We have Had MAJOR Malpractice, Miss diagnosis’s & all by Dr. Carey. This Man Should NOT Be practicing, he’s already suspended from FMH & facing serious lawsuits. Save Your time go elsewhere. A family member is screwed up for life now because of His Gross Negligence & my daughter had a extreme injury that could have been avoided. He’s there to throw physical therapy and prolong Severe injuries just to get a paycheck! Ask around you will find out quickly how many people this man has effected negatively. The worst part, he knows, that clinic knows and local physicians and surgeons know!
Go elsewhere and get second opinion or better don’t even go there! I Am Disgusted …

This is a preliminary review. 65 year old wife while walking to bed heard a pop in her knee. Next morning she could not walk and we decided to use the Urgent care set up they have for walkins. I I Dropped her off, filled out paperwork and left. She was seen by a PA after they had xrayed her knee who told her X-rays were no good for soft tissue injuries, no sh*t. Given a prescription for tramadol and told to call back on the 3rd day if she was in pain. After two days of being in extreme pain she called back and had to leave message, (common complaint, no one answers phone) Thursday afternoon Dr called back and said he would try and schedule a CT on Monday or Tuesday, a week after we first went in. Meanwhile when my wife asked for something stronger than tramadol the Dr said he couldn’t prescribe anything stronger than that until the MRI and to just increase her tylenol. In all fairness I will update this review after the CT scan once we know what we are dealing with. So far not impressed. She has had knee surgery and hip replacement surgery in Fairbanks and this is the first clinic that we felt could care less about the patient. It is also the first time we had to use Medicare instead of private insurance. Coincidence?
