Absolutely zero stars 😓!!!! The last 2 reviews here look to be from 3-4 years ago. I'm thinking management has been replaced. We had a beloved family member enter this facility and stay for only 2 months because of Superior police authorities, just this late summer 2020. She ran off away from home and her son and loving caretaker of the last 20 years who has never hurt anyone nor is the type to, who went looking for her and was mistaken by authorities as neglecting/abusing her yet even while he was looking for her. He was accused because he was not at the scene of the police. Her caretaker/son didn't know she was only at the neighbors dazed and confused but he was looking all over the neighborhood for her! The neighbor called the police in Superior. The police charged her caretaking son for not being on scene and accused him of hitting her..without giving him a chance to explain she ran off and that she had dementia. What kind of law and order is this? She was sent to the hospital and her reports say she didnt have a scratch on her. Yet her report said something contrary by Superior officers and her loving son and caretaker was pressed with charges. She simply had Dementia. We just took for granted and assumed that "By Your Side" took her in their facility because they had memory care training and we were shocked at all the little training they had of memory care. #1 They did not know how to deal with Dementia. She would call us and we had a private conversation or so we thought until she said something they didnt believe was true then they grabbed the phone away to correct her? She said someone was with her who wasnt. So it wasn't a private conversation at all. We suggested our beloved just be humored instead of them arguing with her or constantly correcting her, even though what she said wasnt true. She has Dementia! #2 They, the management of By Your Side in Apache Junction on Royal Palm at Kopper Crest manor, also constantly badgered us about money they believed we owed them, they collected a debit card of our beloved and when we went back to retrieve it they said they put the card in their purse and somehow lost it. We sent police to investigate. They admitted to losing the card but we found they tried unsuccessfully to reopen another account on it. Our beautiful wonderful grandmother died under only 2 months of their care. She was given psychotic drugs for ailments she didnt have and never was given her dementia medicine (this was on her records). She seemed to be drugged so they wouldnt have to deal with her. They even mentioned she was difficult so many times and seemed inefficient at knowing how to deal with her untruths (dementia symptoms). Later her son, who was falsely accused finally was granted visiting permission and would come and visit and found she was in a corner of the room, in a state he never saw her in before, mumbling incoherently under a trance-like manner. She also had diabetes and he wondered if they woke her to feed her or gave her her diabetic insulin on time? They over charged 3x more for drugs, a list of drugs, she didnt need. #3, I want to say they are all around inconsistent. Some of their online ads say they "Do Not" offer memory care and in others, they say they do. I personally called and asked what memory care included as a package and they said memory care is just a word, of how they cared for a patient. The woman who answered, who seemed to be management, could not give me a summary of the kind of services or training that memory care included and she seemed frustrated that I was even asking. Do not put your beloved one in their care, you will regret assuming they know what they are doing over there and without good care these fragile loved ones can die, sooner than necessary. If only we had more time with her. If only we knew what really went on in there, beforehand.
