Medications ready about 50% of the time when a doctor or a cell notification says they are, faulty notifications sent often that meds are filled when they aren't. Significant market variation in pricing- simple generic antibiotics like doxycycline can cost $38 to $90 depending. Once you're stuck in the system you're stuck; I am always very tempted to ask for written prescriptions for outside pharmacies. GoodRx and outside pharmacies often offer way better prices for generic items.

Small pharmacy with hard working staff. They told me the wait would be 25 minutes, so I asked about a cafeteria. They only had vending machines which was a disappointment at lunch time. Pills were ready in 25 minutes. Nice!

A few things - the staff is nice enough. I haven't had an issue with any one person.
However, these are the longest lines and wait times I've ever experienced at any Kaiser pharmacy in 20 years. I've never had to wait in two lines to pick up a medication that my doctor already called in.
Also, I understand there are HIPAA requirements to pick up certain medications. I have no problem confirming that. The volume in which I've had to verbally announce the name of my medications is uncomfortable. I'm sure there is a solution that could satisfy HIPAA and patient privacy at the same time. Also, I've had friends who have been mugged for certain medications because of the street value after leaving a pharmacy. I always think of that when I announce to the whole room what I'm getting. I don't consider my area to be very dangerous, but you never know, and it would be nice for Kaiser to take that into consideration.

The Pharmacist was Great - the overall pharmacy experience was so-so. Kaiser's web page doesn't even show the Martinez Pharmacy as an option - I had to call... Overall the Kaiser experience with trying to reach a Doctor inside of 10 days or more was the worst! More than an hour on hold only to speak to a nurse for 5 minutes, and 2 hours later contacted by a random Doctor for 1 minute and 56 seconds - no explanations - just "take this"... Kaiser needs to greatly improve!!

Their process is absolutely terrible. You have to wait in line to “check in” and then be put in another que to actually pick up your meds which can take UP TO AN HOUR OR MORE to be filled (even if it’s 2 pills that were called in previous.) Once they are filled, you have to wait in ANOTHER long line to pick them up and pay. After this, depending on the medication, you may have to wait AGAIN for a consultation with a pharmacist. It’s an absolutely absurd and inefficient system. Do yourself a favor, and have your meds called in anywhere else if you can. It’s worth the price difference for your time and frustration.

Certain pharmacy tech ask patients to announce/answer out loud what medication they’re picking up. At first I didn’t think anything of it. But after years of picking up my RX and my spouses I noticed they only ask patients that are picking up narcotic medications to announce/answer out loud the medication they’re picking up (I pickup non narcotic, but my spouse has the need for narcotic once in a while). I can only assume this is in an attempt to shame or embarrass that person/patient due to the stigma attached to narcotic medications?. I would video this if it were legal. I’ve made a point to ask for friends/family to pay attention to this and some have witnessed the same. This is shameful. What happened to HIPPA PRIVACY? Another reviewer claimed this is required for all techs to do? That’s weird I’ve never experienced this with any other medications. If this is true, what about patients who have HIV or other stigmatized conditions/medications? They are forced to announce their medical info as well? Give me a break! Where’s the privacy? discretion? Dignity? Compassion? Professionalism? Basic human kindness? You don’t know that persons story. I’m so tired of the holier than thou judging people! Please join me in holding Kaiser accountable for their actions. If you’ve experienced this type of treatment please share your story. Every patient deserves respect, compassion, and at the very least HIPPA PRIVACY!
Shame on you Kaiser for allowing this unfair discrimination/shaming and singling out to continue.
**Another reviewer made a very good point about how dangerous this practice is for certain patients exposing them/making them more susceptible to being robbed for certain medications…

Patients are required to know what they are picking up if they are picking up for someone else. Along with medical record number and birthday. This is called HIPPA!!!! This protects patient privacy along with picking up the correct medicine for the patient not present. Please know that every question asked by employees are ones that we are required to. To slander an employee on public media is borderline illegal. If you don't care for the experience simply state you had a poor experience and suggest what can be done better. BUT know the laws pertaining to your situation. Please remember that this is a healthcare professional setting and recruiting more people online to have an employee fired over HIPPA laws required she follow and slander her online possibly ruining her livelihood is uncalled for. Please disregard any negative posts about Lynn from the pharmacy in martinez. She is amazing
