The good , The bad and the UGLY truth ,,,,
The Good you meet group of very enthusiastic and motivated group of students that you will bond and push each other’s for each module, its always the best feeling when you can share your struggles with another student in the same boat,

The Bad, staffing wise its all transactional and as a student your part of the statistic and nothing special about you but you are a dollar sign that pays their biweekly check, you will be treated in the order of your inquiry or not, communication is none existent.

The Bad, you get send to clinical site for internship that dont care about you or your education and training, you are just an extra help that may or may not be helpful for the productivity of the clinic, so word of adviced trust me when I say,,,keep it professional- come in on time,in uniform,ready to work,put your required hours weekly and eat lunches outside - walk around , get fresh air- regroup and stay cool and play your poker face, fake it till you make it !you are a disposable and replace-able intern ! You are not a person for them - you don’t get paid and you’re not staff ! You are student and always remind yourself it’s temporary training only ,get your training,hours and keep it pushing, this staff are not your friends and believe me and dont trust anyone at your site, everyone are toxic and have an agenda, the clinical instructor are tired underpaid , unprofessional who will only take advantage of your free labor.Every work place have issues with staffing and in internship clinic are no different,just play your card learn learn learn,your there for yourself nothing else.

The Ugly truth ,,Gurnick is for hurry up and get your training now but it will cost you 50K and have to do it all!you’re on your own,… you basically do it all, you pay, you study, you intern, you graduate, you prep for state licensure and Gurnick just a name of the school you are attached to ,the school is just for profit nothing more nothing less, so weight your pros and cons and if it checks all your boxes then good for you,,Gurnick is not for everyone’s cup of tea.

This school only cares about the money you pay them. I remember the director contacting me so many times in a week to pay my past due. I was still waiting for my VA benefits to kick in. Then I was told if I don’t pay by this date, I will be removed from the program. So I applied for a loan to pay off my past due. After that I was never harassed again. I expected a lot from this school. From great didactic instructors to clinical instructors. But that did not happened. I only had one good didactic instructor. My clinical instructor was lazy and always complaining. The leadership did not care about you. Just their well being as a school. Your grades don’t matter. Also they did not care if you are a military veteran. There were times that I had to clock in using my phone which is not allowed, but my clinical instructor was always late so I couldn’t clock in using a computer. I was removed from the MRI program because I was DISHONEST. Instead of helping you to improve, they just remove you from the program because they got what they needed from you. MONEY! No kind of remediation whatsoever. Just after your MONEY. You’re better off with Unitek where they care about their students emotionally, spiritually, and personally. Being a nurse is way better than being an MRI tech.?

I attended the San Mateo Campus and was appalled. Shortly after paying for my tuition their true colors came out. Faculty showed blatant disrespect for the students and my education. Ms. Shashi often over talked and undermined her own staff leading to 2 teachers immediate departure in the middle of the semester. Both were great teachers. She is very disrespectful, condescending, and patronizing to staff and students. I often had to remind her that I was grown with children of my own.

If that wasn't bad enough the staff made many mistakes and attempted to blame the students for not trying harder or overcoming the adversity they inspired without the slightest hint of an apology. Mr. Verdad Even went as far as to call a student a liar in front of the whole class because faculty gave her and 2 other girls 2 different instructions. We were even told we had to do an extra day in class because our teacher didnt show up to unlock the school OR TEACH. We waited outside for an hour and a half before going home from a class that was supposed to start at 630AM!!!

Needless to say this doesn't make for the most conducive learning environment or even support a positive one. The only way I would go back to this school is if they paid me to attend AND got new staff.

I have had the pleasure of working with Gurnick and their students for over 4 years and can say it has been a wonderful experience. The MRI students sent to my facility for clinical training are professional, hard-working and team players. All my Technologists are Gurnick grads! A big thank you to Elena Danilova for building such a great relationship with me and my facility.

I’m starting here soon and the staff were really helpful and reached out to me with information. Katherine went beyond and above to help me get admitted before the start date of my program. So far I had a great experience with everyone there and I’m super excited to start here soon and learn a lot from all the teachers.
