My brother was at Driftwood for 8 months. The staff is mostly kind and caring. The nurses work hard but need more support. Fia at the front desk is awesome. The cleaning staff seems good. In general they take good care of people despite the workload they have. My biggest issue is in their processing times. They need more social service staff. This is a big part of what they do and they only have one person there at a time for all of the patients and good luck tracking them down. The voicemail is always full and calls/emails are not answered. If your loved one ends up at Driftwood I would advise you not to be complacent, be a strong advocate, be willing to give a lot of time to follow up and get involved in any processing that needs to happen, do as much of it as you can yourself. Don't assume the social service staff is following up. Follow up yourself if you want to straight answer.

I would only recommend Driftwood if you need to go to rehab after the hospital for a couple of days. Anything other than that and you could get stuck there for a lot longer than you anticipated.

I have a loved one who is currently at Driftwood. I was hesitant to place her anywhere bc of previous experiences. However, l have to admit that l was pleasantly surprised once she was settled in.

The first thing l noticed was that it doesn't have that odor like most of the other facilities have. They are constantly cleaning and taking out the trash.

The majority of the staff are pleasant and attentive, which, due to their caseload, isn't always easy. I also appreciate the fact that the Directors introduce themselves and actually walk the floor on a regular basis and check on the patients who seem to be well taken care of.

An added plus is that most of the food is actually pretty tasty.

Are they perfect?...Of course not. Is everyone happy?...No, bc there are people who will ALWAYS complain no matter what. With that said, and considering the fact that there is a constant turnover of patients with different needs and personalities, IMO, I'm convinced they do the best they can.

Our mother was there for just three weeks. In that short time, she caught pneumonia. It was obvious to our family that she was struggling and declining, but the staff assured us that the x-rays showed that her lungs were clear. We asked for a doctor and they said that there is no doctor on site and it is hard to say when that person may stop by there. Next came the call that mom had collapsed and was taken to the hospital. The emergency nurses said that they had never seen someone in such poor condition. She died two days later. Pneumonia and acute hypoxic respiratory failure were stated as the cause of death. She had just turned 77 years of age.

My mom was at Driftwood Healthcare Center twice last year. Her second time was for end-of-life care.

Dominique Green and her staff were great. They were friendly, attentive, efficient and extremely helpful, and gave my mom excellent care. And when my mom had to return to Driftwood, she was very pleased she was going back, as she felt at home there.

I know from personal experience that many nursing and rehab facilities are awful. However, I found Driftwood Healthcare Center to be an exception, and was very pleased we (her children) decided to send her there. I highly recommend their facility.

Even though the staff was pretty noisy especially at night when I was trying to get some sleep, they treated me nicely for the 4 days that I was there. The food was fair, but the lunches were good. A physical therapist visited me, and a doctor who was on call also came to visit with me and gave me a good amount of her time. They gave me medication and handled my discharge paperwork well. I was there for a severe back pain issue. Based on my overall experience, I am giving it 4 stars.

Avoid this place. Everyone at this facility does not care. Staff are lazy, dismissive, and negligent. My father has experienced cold, rashes, hunger, etc… oh and even contracted the shingles! Then they had the audacity to say they are unsure where he got the shingles from since he came from the hospital. Mind you he has been there for over a week and they change my father into clothes that is not even his! Driftwood does not take accountability and simply does not care about their patients.

My mother was there for 23 days. In that time she developed pneumonia because of their lack of communication by their staff. She was left sitting on the edge of her bed for 3 hrs waiting to be changed after sitting in a soaked sweaty gown. A week later she was almost given someone else's medication. Thank God my mom was with it because they were going to give her blood pressure medication which she doesn't take and Levaquin which she is highly allergic to. Mind you the nurse never came back after my mom informed her of those two medications. Fast forward to a few days later when we were to be having my mom transported home via ambulance. My mom waited all day for someone to come get her. We then had to call and talk to the head nurse which said they didn't have any paperwork for her release. By the time we got there to speak to someone her medication was already bagged up for her and the nurse had the paperwork. However they told us go ahead and take her home. Ummm she has 54 staples in her back we can't transport her home, we were told you were getting her transport home. Oh I have no idea about that. Come on how can you not know anything when the patients paperwork is right in front of your face. There were only two positives that came out of our experience with her there. She ended up with a wonderful roommate who I know will be friends with forever now and her therapist Jordan was a blessing to my mom. Everything else about that place was HORRIBLE!
