I recently visited the facility and the I did not have any complaints regarding my visit. Staff was friendly during my visit, the facility itself was clean, and the staff appeared attentive to their patients. Overall it was a great visit and was very satisfied with the facility overall.

Culver West has its good points and its bad ones just like anywhere else but my concern has gone unaddressed and I can’t seem to get the Director on the phone, despite numerous calls and messages. I will start with the good points first. The entire staff has been wonderful and kind. They’re always pleasant and seem to have a good rapport with my mother. They have kept me informed about treatments, incidents and her overall condition the entire time that she has been there. Her Social Worker is a gem, as well as the sweet Caribbean queen that always greets me & everyone else with a warm hello and friendly smile, up at the front desk (thanks ladies) and the food appears to be good quality food.
Now for the not so positive things. My mother’s belongings have continuously disappeared, from her clothing , shoes and blanket that she asked me to bring because she’s always cold. My mom complained to me several months ago about none of her clothes being hers and that what was in the closet in her room was far too big for her. I checked her closet and found multiple articles of clothing ranging from size Large to XXL that didn’t belong to her, inside. My mom is a size S/M! I went to a nearby Ross to purchase some warm items both tops & bottoms her size and I put her name on the inside of each with a Sharpie. About two months later, same situation, the clothing in her closet doesn’t belong to her and now both pairs of her shoes and her thick blanket has gone missing. I had never inquired about the facility replacing anything until these more costly things went missing. I was told that the Director stated that it is not within the facility’s policy to replace lost items. Hmmmm, my question to her would be ( if she’d take my call or ever return one) what is the facility’s policy on THEFT because if the missing items haven’t turned up anywhere, then it seems like they’re being stolen? I can understand if something small goes missing every now and again because there is a lot of residents to keep up with but I don’t understand how major items continue to go missing and nothing is ever done about it! Everything is expensive these days and I should not have to continuously replace my mother’s belongings if they are being lost or stolen within the facility where she resides. I’m not leaving a negative review to be vindictive or malicious but more so to bring attention to what seems to be an ongoing problem within the facility that clearly isn’t being addressed and since I can’t get the proper individual on the phone, I had no other choice than to express my concerns in a review.

Very Bad Experience ,and the rudeness of Some Of the Employees! Very Despicable! As Medical transportation Team ,Were Denied the Use of Restroom ,As per the front Desk mid 30’s Lady with flipped around Name Tag, she said NO! , Restroom is only for employees! Visitors and vendors need to ( figure out) that was exactly Her words, On top of, some patients were asking for Help as we were passing by hallways! Sad and depressed were the face of those Defenseless Patients, they were in so much need of everything! Take out your relatives while you Can, take them where they can get the service and attention they well Deserve!

Some months ago, after a bout of covid, I was sent to this place from the hospital. The first thing my new room mate said was "you're not going to believe what happens here." That turned out to be the case. I have idiopathic arthritis, and for pain I was prescribed oxycodone, 15 mg; the "nurse" handed me a 5 mg tablet. I said "the order was for 15," this is only 5. He said "no, it's 15 ....hmm, no you're right," and he came back with 2 more tablets. That night he sent another "nurse" in, who told me I had to wait 2 more hours. I said no, I could tell time, there was a clock on the wall; he said there was nothing he could do. This was an ongoing problem; in other words these "nurses" were obviously stealing painkillers, pilfering and diverting medication. Talking to other patients, I found I was not the only victim. That night, around 2 AM, I heard an elderly patient screaming for help; finally I got in my wheelchair and went to see what was wrong. There was a "nurse" sitting in a chair, nodding, who was directly across from this patient's room. I asked her why she didn't attend to the distressed patient. She said haughtily that it wasn't her assignment. I said "what about your conscience, is that perhaps your real assignment?" She said she didn't want to talk to me, and turned away, and I had to find another nurse who had a little more basic compassion. I don't mean to say everything was wrong; there were some good, kind nurses, who really cared. Almost all of them complained about the cruel, uncaring atmosphere of this place, and said they only stayed because they needed the job, or, as one said, actually, yes, weeping, that she felt she could still make a difference (no, this was true, really true). The rehab nurses were all dedicated; you can talk to them. But none of their equipment works. No, none of it (perhaps the posturing fool who claims to be the owner has bought new exercise equipment, perhaps with the proceeds of diverted medication; I was there several months ago, and can't speak to what happened since I left). And, about my leaving: the general atmosphere was so cold, so unkind, that I could no longer endure it, and said I wanted to leave. I was told that I couldn't, it would be against medical advice, and perhaps I was still suffering from Covid. In other words, since I had begun to vociferously complain, they didn't want me to write what I am now writing. I said that, legally, they couldn't prevent me from leaving. Finally, after much argument they let me out, out the back door so no one would notice. I was not escorted off the property, I was not given a walker, I was not offered any transportation home, I was given no shoes, wore only a hospital gown, had been taken by ambulance to the hospital and so had no money on my person, and I had to walk on the hot cement wearing only socks. Fortunately, I was able to make it to a hair salon across the street; I had gone there for haircuts for years, and the two fine ladies who worked there, although somewhat aghast at my appearance, immediately offered me a ride home. In other words, I had found myself in an intolerable situation, but managed to escape. I suggest to anyone planning to send a loved one to Culver West that you need not believe me, and consider me biased, but go yourself to investigate this place. But, please don't be fooled by the window dressing, the hearty greetings, and so forth . . . if the rehab room has broken equipment, if any patients or staff - looking over their shoulders to make sure they're not overheard - tell you the truth about this place, then draw your own conclusions. The first person I met was the receptionist. She was helpful and very pleasant. Then I notice other staff members who were friendly and the surroundings very pleasant and friendly. Additionally, I notice how clean it was. Thumbs up ☝I was with my friend at lunch time and his food was enjoyable to him😁

The staff at Culver West are wonderful. My husband was admitted for rehab post pneumonia which had made him very weak due to his diagnosis of . From the first day he got there everyone was attentive and kind. His nurse Lisa is the best. Kevin the care coordinator was very informative about his care and post care. The head of the rehabilitation department was very encouraging and positive. If my husband ever needs a nursing home again, Culver West is at the top of the list.
