I had a family member to stay at Cottage of the Shoals.. I want to thank Taylor for going above and beyond for getting my family member admitted to a private room.. he was so good to communicate with me on the admission process.. I also want to thank Terah and Cassie whom are nurses there for working together so professionally on a test my family member had to have. They showed me they truly cared . The therapy department was awesome ❤️

This place is disgustingly nasty and smells. The nursing staff will not give meds as they are supposed to. My mother is here for rehab after serveal falls. Upon arrival, we were told there are no wheelchairs available for rehab patients and that if we have one to go get it. The food is barely enough to feed her or is just plain disgusting and not fit for a dog. The administration, David, told my mother that everything is had told him was just reality. The nice lady in the room with mom, she had gotten her tray for dinner with no silverware to eat. When told about it, she was told that the kitchen was closed. But rest assured, the state of Alabama health department will be hearing from me and filling a formal complaint about this place. The CNA’s are a complete joke. They sit around on their phones instead of taking care of the patients. The nursing staff is also a joke.

The nursing staff are excellent. They were always very compassionate and knowledgeable. The physical therapy and occupational therapy departments are best in state! I’d put them up against anyone. I’d really like to compliment Tammy (and Honey Boo Boo), Lisa and Clint but the whole department deserves accolades! Thanks so much!

I was admitted to the Rehab wing on July 3rd & left yesterday which was Friday. I am truly blessed to have been at this facility. I had only experienced rehab at another facility in 2009 & was skeptical going in.
I feel so blessed to have been there with the best of all services to encounter. The only negative I found was the garbage out back by the sheds that needs to be cleaned up? otherwise I would recommend Cottage of The Shoals to anyone?

My dad fell and broke his leg and needed rehab. After the last horrible experience we had with a rehab facility we really didn't know where to send him. We had asked around, heard this and that about all but we decided to go with Cottage of the Shoals. THE BEST DECISION WE COULD HAVE MADE. When I tell you that everyone here has treated my dad like a part of their family.... he has been treated nothing less than a King!! My dad is a little spoiled, thanks to my mom, and I know sometimes he can be a handful but every single person here has gone above and beyond to make sure he is took care of. He has progressed in his therapy and is doing great. It's comforting to us knowing we can leave and not have to worry about leaving Dad here. Thank you COTS for taking such great care of our Dad.

We brought our 86 year mother to Cottage after a fall that fractured the large bone in her arm. She was weak and because of her fracture, the doctor wanted her arm I mobilized. She worn a sling so her arm would stay in position! She was in pain but talking to ups! We request a potty chair that day but didn’t get it until Wednesday! By that time it was to late! Within a number of days , mama wasn’t talking very much, she wasn’t eating and had a terrible bottom! By the end of the week she wasn’t eating, drinking or talking! All she was doing was sleeping! We told the nurse we wanted to take her to the hospital to be evaluated! The hospital couldn’t believe the condition she was in! She had even had a mild heart attack and no one knew it! Helen Keller and NAMC were wonderful to her! She was in NAMC for 8 days, The doctor wanted her to go to rehab and she told him that her experience with rehab was terrible and wanted to go home with home health! Mama left NAMC Monday and with the help of home health and her 4 children, she is sitting up in a chair and going to the bathroom with very little help!! God bless HKH and NAMC for caring for our mama as we would!!-

I can't believe this place is open. Never in my life will anyone of my family go back to this place. My dad had to go there for rehab. First few days he was fine, towards the end. He didn't won't to do anything. Didn't eat, drink, was in diapers that wasn't changed when needed, they would come in and bring his tray of food and leave it knowing he couldn't help himself. The list goes on...even talked to some "people in charge" about the things i saw Lord only knows what else happen when i wasn't there. Placed him in another rehab/long term care. They examined him and found all kinds of problems. The big one was HE HAD A UTI and LIGHT STROKE! Before I left I asked the doctor or whatever she is to check him out, bc I thought he had a stroke. Just from the problems he was having. She told me that's how he is and basically he was old not going to get any better and die. Never in my LIFE will I ever use this place again nor recommend. They are under staff and need ppl there that love their job, not just to get a pay check. I gave them a 1 bc I had to, if I could give a -10 Definitely would! Do better or close down!

This place is a blessing for my family. Everyone has been so caring and attentive to my dear uncle. He has been there about a week. I cannot say enough about dayshift! I have only had one issue with a lady who works nights. However, this lady is a temp employee who was only there for a check. I spoke with someone, and we have had no trouble since then. It only took one time to complain and they addressed our issue accordingly. The staff is caring, friendly, and I would recommend this place to anyone with loved ones who aren’t able to care for themselves and need a little assistance. Taylor, in admissions, Has been a blessing and one of the most Genuine people I have met. He helped me with any and everything. Great job cottage of the Shoals, keep up the superior work and thank you for all you do ❤️ ?
