I was a patient in the psych ward, for about a week and i was worse off after. I had friends tell me while i was inside that this didn't make them not want to try again. It makes them want to make sure they succeed in the attempt next time. And I believed the exact same thing at the time.

The therapy was awful, and so very surface level. My therapy in the child's psych ward both times was more serious and effective than the paper sheets they gave us. They had us bounce a beach ball with questions printed all over, and had us answer questions along the lines of "what inspires you?". And that was one of the less horrible group sessions/activities they had us do.

All the negative reviews about most of the staff being verbally abusive/neglectful in the psych ward are all true. They wouldn't wash the clothes when asked, it was always "ok i'll do that later". And then i got all my dirty clothes back by the end of it. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for a few items that they let us bring in. Every time a patient was trying to discharge, they were scrambling to find their items.

The food gave everyone diarrhea, and if you didn't eat enough of it they could use it as a reason to keep you from being discharged, so they keep track of what you leave behind. So a lot of us would throw it away when they weren't looking and would lie about how much we ate. One guy had to be sent back to the hospital for food poisoning, only to have to start his "72 hours" all over again. It wasn't actually 72 hours because the doctors weren't around often enough to get a patient out in 72 hours. If you were lucky then you were discharged by Friday (me), but i know others who had to go weeks because the therapists, psychiatrists, and whatever other staff that had to sign off on a release just wouldn't show up. They also didn't discharge people on the weekends which was also its own form of torture for other patients. As patients, we only really had each other to advocate for our rights.

I had a friend who had to have a whole meeting with all her doctors and other counselors to advocate for her own release. One of her doctors straight up lied and said that she was in her room all day and not participating in activities. Which is hilarious because she was probably the one who socialized the most while i was there. My friend had to tell them "you can check the cameras if you want". So long story short, she was thankfully released thanks to none of her doctors.

This happened a while back but, from what i've seen from other reviews, things haven't changed here. This is definitely not all of it or even most of it, but this was off the top of my head. The whole experience was pretty traumatic and i try not to think about it.

All of the terrible reviews you read about this place are true. Staff is verbally abusive, enjoys antagonizing and making fun of patients, and overall treating those with mental illness as less than human beings. The only way to be treated with any humanity here is if you don’t “act” mentally ill. As a person suffering from PTSD, who voluntarily went to the ER for suicidal ideation, this place has accomplished nothing other than making sure I never ask for help again. I left more traumatized than I came in. Staff WILL lie to keep you there longer, and any protest or frustration you express with how you are treated will have you labeled as “threatening” or “agitated” which they can use to extend your hold. This place is a real life nightmare for anyone struggling already with mental health. I hope someday law enforcement will get involved, but since this is a place where low and no income patients are treated, I won’t hold my breath. Mentally ill people deserve to be treated with dignity. Do better.

The two head charge nurses refused to let me file a complaint. Claimed I was overreacting to my father's condition (turns out he was having heart failure) and had another male nurse standing in the back of the room intimidating me. I am a short woman and there was 4 people in that room with me. I wasn't even approaching anyone. Avoid this place at all cost.

This is not a facility appropriate for people seeking mental health treatments and stabilization. The treatment from the staff here not only triggers but escalates any mental health problems the patient is facing already.

I have been admitted here twice, and both times I was left degraded, disrespected, and without appropriate care. They claim there is a therapist on site 24/7, but there was never one present BOTH times for ALL the days I have stayed there.

The WORST area in this place is the staff. Granted, there were some amazing individuals who did properly treat their patients with care and dignity. As for the rest of the staff, I do not know how else to describe them but as people who treat mentally ill people as inferior and without an ounce of dignity or respect. For a lot of the staff, they were verbally ABUSIVE to multiple patients inside, including me. I had a friend who suffered a seizure over a minute long and all the nurses did was tell “He’s doing it for attention!” after measuring his blood pressure and left. That man was still out cold on the floor. I am specifically calling out the Asian male nurse with red and black tattoos all over his arms. What kind of nurse ASSUMES a patient is seizuring to get attention? WHO SAYS THAT? By the way, the man requested to be transferred to the hospital for his seizure. Guess who denied him?

This paragraph, however, will be an honorary mention dedicated to a man named Uria Parks. Good job on being the WORST human being I have ever been forced to be authorized under. I cannot believe someone as verbally abusive, childish, and incompetent he is and was for my entire stay. He is someone that can not handle honesty even he is approached in a mature manner. This 40 year old man should be acting like a kid throwing a tantrum at a 20 year old when *i* was trying to apologize to *him* despite him being in the absolute wrong. Uria Parks is a useless parasite that feeds on the remaining energy of the patients around him looking for any sense of superiority to cover his insecurities. If anyone ever wants to meet a child in a man’s body, his name is Uria Parks and works at the Corona Regional Willows Rehab facility.

The psychiatrist, Dr. Kataria, also couldn’t care less about his patients and only about prescribing random pills that certain people don’t even need just fill his paycheck.

All in all, this place is an embarrassment of a mental health facility claiming to stabilize people. It is everything BUT that. Nothing about this facility treats people like actual human beings. There were no services provided like crisis counseling to even help stabilize people. All they do is measure your blood pressure and feed you any strong anxiety medication if you “act up”. If you stand up for yourself against these people even with facts, logic, and maturity, due to the nature of the power dynamic of them being in authority and you a patient, they will consider that “violent and inappropriate behavior exhibiting mental illness”. They even threatened to keep me here for another week just because I did make it verbally clear that I do not appreciate being treated like anything less than a human being. Of course, their only priority is money. The bar is in hell for this facility and their staff.

My friend is being involuntary kept here and it is awful. I went to visit her at the only time available, which is a measley hour from 7pm-8pm. All the staff I talked to were rude, unhelpful, and seemed depressed themselves honestly. You are seemingly not allowed to hug or have physical contact of any kind while visiting, while a cranky old man sits in the corner staring at you. He seemed particularly interested in the bra which I brought for my friend(inspecting it for a while), since they dont provide any of course. Nor do they provide shoes! The showers I'm told are moldy and unsanitary. The woman at the front wouldn't let me drop off a better blanket since the ones they provide are paper thin. I'm also told that some of the staff openly mock patients and are anything but gentle, even giving sedation shots unnecessarily. For a person with ADD or ADHD, this place is hell. There is less to do than in your typical American prison. My friend is not getting the help or medication they need. Her mental health seems to be actually degrading because of this horrible cold place. Whoever is in charge clearly has no idea what they're doing or simply don't care. Healthcare is not the word that comes to mind with this place, it's much more akin to an underfunded prison. Some of the other reviews are saying the patients are treated as animals and burdens and this is definitely how most of the staff came across. I'm serious when I say this place needs an audit or should be shut down immediately. The janitor seemed nice.
UPDATE:
Picking her up was handled horribly. I was told I could pick her up in the morning so I call out of work and drive two hours just to be told when I get there that I need to wait another day. What difference does a day make? Why the confusion and lies? Again I'm on the phone with mean, rude, unhelpful nurses and am not allowed to speak to the doctor to explain the situation. The next day they have me wait an hour, while the nurses fumble around as if they've never done this before. Completely unprofessional and ridiculous. Again, this place should be shut down. The staff is worthless and to get anywhere with them you basically have to do their job for them, calling different nurses and my friend just to get everyone on the same page. I would put negative stars if I could.

My mom was put in this rehabilitation hospital. She claims to be disrespected and degraded. An Asian man with red tattoos and a bald head would treat her so rudely, she went to go ask for undergarments and he practically threw it at her. Next there was Dr Kataria he was aggressive with his words, He had a strong accent and whenever my mom asked him to repeat something because she couldn’t understand he would lose his temper and begin to raise his tone. There was another lady with purple scrubs and long black hair she would give my mom the cold shoulder and ignore her while giving dirty looks. She would greet everyone and when it came to my mom she js stared at her in digits.
Although she does claim that 3 Hispanics were there and would talk with her and they were the nicest. They would comfort my mom and talk with her often. Also with an elder women with blonde hair , colored eyes and glasses. She would also talk with my mom and tell her she’s doing great. Although most of the staff here were horrible and would treat you as if you weren’t important there were some who actually showed they cared for their patients. Overall this place is not one where you would wanna go improve your mental health the bar is so low it hurts my heart whenever she talks about this place.

I think quite a bit of the reviews that I have seen here don't realize what facility they are reviewing. My son has been here 3 years and he is treated amazingly. My complaints are minimal and usually rectified. Remember that the staff is human and they care for more than 1 patient, but when it's emergent they are right there doing everything to help. My son was in a HORRIBLE place before, so trust me, I know what is a great staff and what is not.

The people running the inpatient program at Willow are super rude.
They hang up when I ask simple questions.
I had to call multiple times to even get a simple answer.
Then they also have a hard time paying attention.
I'd give zero stars for phone service.
God, I can only pray my friend is being treated well.
