Awful experience this year. I'm able to renewal my RN License online. Not be able to get a hold of anyone via phone. Emailed three times and still haven't received any response from them. This is unacceptable. There is so much room to improve.

Horrendously uncaring and unprofessional. Never call or email back. Voicemail box always too full for new messages. Won't call back after repeated messages and calling every day. In desperation, we actually drove to their published address in Sacramento, and we were only met with cold, dismissive, "there's nothing we will do, and we don't care. Just keep calling" messages. The person "helping" us wore dark sunglasses the whole time as he spoke with us. It is really devastating for newly trained nurses to face this stone wall. Given the nursing shortage, this is also very bad for Californians. Finally, file a formal complaint with the Department of Consumer Affairs. This will be more effective than review sites.

I have submitted all items required for my license, the CA board of nursing seems to be unable to locate my college transcript even though I have receipt of delivery. I have been put on the callback queue, gotten a call back, put on hold for 10 minutes while someone helped with my issue. Then the call just dropped and I was unable to get a person on the phone since. I received an email asking for my college transcript order ID, I replied with the ID 4 MINUTES LATER. No response since. Considering the extremely high cost to obtain this license compared to other states, you would expect the customer service to be incredible....it's horrible. who is this board of nursing accountable to?

Extremely not helpful. Called and wanted a call back about out of state application for NP furnishing number and can't even get a call back because the call log is always full. We are moving from the east coast to California and it seems like the board will not allow you to practice as an NP if you have less than 5 years of experience or that you took your pharm course less than 5 years ago. This basically means you either have to retake the course (which is a feat in itself trying to get BACK INTO A DNP PROGRAM JUST GOT ONE COURSE). Wanted to know if there was an alternative solution and they provide no answer. Lady that answered the phone sounded incompetent and was reading off a screen when we were asking questions. We will have to fly into the state in person to make this happen. I get that they maybe understaff or has a lot of applications to process, but so does other states and departments that are in similar situations. Not a justifiable excuse at all. Work ethic and poor customer service seems to be the primary issue here.

Horrible customer service. I have been working on my license renewal. I have turned in all reuquired document and paid all the fees. Still my license shows as delinquent. CEUs are all completed. I have NO idea what is missing and can't get through to talk to anyone. So frustrating !

1) time to process licensure takes longer than most other states 6-8 weeks and after 8 weeks if still not processed, the representative tells you to “just keep waiting” and “maybe wait a few more weeks”. 2) communication is horrible. No one ever emails back. Of calling the BON, it opens at 8am but does not actually start accepting calls until 8:05 am. If you call at 8:05 am it states representatives are busy and you will be out in a line- I usually get a call back around 12-2 pm. IF you call past 9 am then you will not be able to get ahold of anyone and the call back line is full. You will have to retry another day. Can’t even leave a voice mail. 3) you finally get ahold of a representative and they SOMETIMES document your concern. Say ‘oh that’s odd’ or ‘we will have someone reach out’ or ‘just wait a little longer’. The service representatives can’t help or explain or contact anyone who can fix the problem. They won’t let you speak to a manager, won’t give you contacts to someone who can help. It’s infuriating and you’re helpless. I have put in my application to add a speciality to my NP license. Applies 8 weeks ago. They say they’re still processing my school transcript that was sent 8 weeks ago. Per online application status the transcript has not been received. When I talked to the rep, Porsche she said they “probably” did get it and it’s “probably still processing”. She “maybe” will document my call and the inquiry and her advice was to wait 3 more weeks and then call back. Website says expect 6 weeks, rep is telling me 11 weeks, and what happens if for some reason the transcript was accidentally misfiled and I end up forever being told to keep waiting. There needs to be accountability and more effective ways to assist nurses.

Name of agent was Janice. Did not sound very friendly at all. Advised me that I have to do the application all over again and foreign students without SSN/ ITIN don’t get a chance to apply. So better choose another state.

10 month update! Being ignored by all outlets. No emails being responded to and now my dean is getting involved because her requests are being ignored as well. 10 months with NO UPDATE! Working as a PCT with a BSN 9 MONTH UPDATE STILL UNEMPLOYED! Still no update on the status on my account. They claim they have no information and cannot help me. I graduated in August and still am unemployed due to them not approving my NCLEX date. No information, no answers and i've called 100+ times! I was born and raised in California, this is ridiculous. How are they getting away with this *Month #5 of waiting and about to apply elsewhere* Does anyone know how long it takes for a new RN graduate to take the NCLEX? I'm going into my 5th month of waiting to get the green light to take my NCLEX even after all of my documents and application has been approved. After calling 200 times they gave me no timeline as to when I will be able to take it and just suggest to keep waiting. Extremely frustrating that I am not able to work and provide for myself.
