My mother got an eye exam here, was told they don’t accept insurance for glasses. She went through with the eye exam as she was recommended by a coworker only to find out they charge a $45 refraction fee to receive her prescription. This is against 16 CFR Part 456 Ophthalmic Practice Rule (Eyeglass Rule) established by the Federal Trade commission in June of 2024. “The Federal Trade Commission enforces the Eyeglass Rule. It requires eye doctors – ophthalmologists and optometrists – to give patients a copy of their prescription, whether they ask for it or not and before offering to sell eyeglasses. It’s the law”

I have suffered from chronic dry eye problems for years and have tried many many solutions from very well known institutions and eye doctors. Visiting with Dr. Boland yesterday I was received by a compassionate and professional staff that did my initial testing and even adjusted my eyeglasses for me. Dr. Bolin then did additional testing and lots of questions concerning my problems and length of time they have been going on. He offered an affordable solution for me since cost is a definite concern for someone these days. I am looking greatly forward to seeing the progress on the new products that he has started me on! The entire process was very professional. Throughout the entire exam David? was patient and and did not try to rush through it (to get it completed). In comparing this experience with others, I left feeling that my sister had received a thorough exam and am confident in the eyewear prescription.

As a patient, I can honestly say that I receive the best care and treatment for my eyes at Boland Eye Center. The doctor and staff are thorough with examinations and explaining conditions of the eye as well as the best care and treatment options available.

Special shout out to David Brown, the optician who examined my mother prior to seeing Dr. Boland. David was extremely polite and patient with my mother, who has dementia. He spoke to her calmly, respectfully and clearly. He is a pro. We also liked Dr. Boland, and the rest of the staff!

The optometrist I was using left this practice, and the practice never contacted me to tell me. They cancelled my annual appointment without telling me. Also, because they don’t take vision insurance, I didn’t elect this with my company but would have had I known I would go somewhere else.

Dr Boland and his staff are fantastic! I have been to a LOT of eye doctors since I have worn glasses or contacts since the 4th grade and this practice is one of the best I have encountered. My exam was very thorough, affordable and efficient. Everyone was extremely friendly and professional. I highly recommend!!

When you enter office you still must wear mask. If you want a referral to have eye surgery for insurance to cover they won’t give you one. You go every 3 months without the doctor giving you a path for treatment. Taking eyedrops with know explanation other than to relieve pressure. I have been a patient for years. Missed appointments for scheduling problems and they are now dropping me as a patient.
