First impressions are everything. My very first visit I went in for a cleaning, had my cleaning done, and Dr. Hans told me she recommended me to come every 4months instead of every 6. No problem there. Her next comment has stuck with me ever since and I wish I wouldn’t have gone back the other two times I did or recommended my parents. Before I could even say anything she said “if you can pay to have your nails and lashes done you can afford to prioritize your dental health”. I should have walked out and never came back. What a rude thing to say to someone you know nothing about. Little did she know I have not missed a dental cleaning in over 10 years, and had no problem with coming every 4 months, she just noticed I happen to have my lashes done (clusters I did by myself at home) and my nails done (I am a grown woman with two degrees, my own house, car and big girl job and can budget to get my natural nails overlay done with acrylic every few weeks).
My first cleaning was okay, but my second and third cleaning she stated I had a cavity and needed it filled totally fine, I made an appointment with my surgical dentist due to having a gut feeling that something wasn’t right because all of my ten years of going to her and she never mentioned a cavity or even close to one needing attention. I have a surgical dentist I trust with teeth and have been seeing the past ten years, I only came to Basswood Family Dental for cleanings. So I go to my other dentist (Smiled by German Design in Muenster, TX if you need honest work done) and she advised me she didn’t see anything and wanted Dr. Hans to send over her diagnosis to take a better look at the tooth she was suggesting needed work. During my my appointment with SbGD I called Basswood Family Dental to get all my records and X-rays sent to me and let them know what was going on and they did send me my X-rays but as for the treatment plan… that was not even 6 months old and not to mention, Dr. Hans asked me to have them send over their paper work after I got it filled, and they refused to send it to me. To me that just seems like they want to create problems in my mouth that aren’t there and have me get unnecessary work done. I cancelled my next appointment and asked them to please send me the rest of my dental records from their clinic which I haven’t even received yet.
As for my parents, my mom in particular, had bone graph in her teeth (she’d had a lot of work done) and she said she left bleeding for over a month because the person doing her cleaning was scraping into the bone graph when my mom repeatedly told them not to due to future work she’d need done — she also made a comment about how good my moms insurance is (full coverage).
I honestly feel like Dr. Hans is after money only and was trying to create problems in my mouth and my moms to give us a reason to keep coming back. I will not be back and do not recommend her to anyone. I will trust my gut next time and not allow a provider to blatantly disrespect me during my first appointment because of their prejudices and assumptions.

I had a great experience here! The staff is super friendly and made me feel comfortable from the moment I walked in. The dentist was very professional, explained everything clearly, and made sure I was at ease the whole time. I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for quality care and great service!

Worst experience ever as a new patient. They didn’t seem to know how to use Novocain properly—after 4 shots, I still felt everything and had to endure the pain. My teeth actually felt worse after the appointment. The filling was so rough I had to return to get it fixed. Staff was nice but disorganized. Find another dentist—this one isn’t worth it.

This is hands down the best dentists office I have ever been to. Every single person I interacted with was genuinely happy to work with me and they took their time to do everything that needed to be done. I would recommend this office to anyone in the area!” This place ROCKS!!!! The Hygienist is extremely precisely detailed in the quality of her work. It’s like owning a Ferrari not a Ford. I’m telling you, want the best she is the best. Go ahead take my word, walk into Basswood Family Dental you will no longer look anymore or nor any place else. This place is the best for your your smile to be GOLDEN 😁.

I had a bad experience at the dentist I saw before going to Dr. Hans, and I needed a lot of cavities filled. I already had my x-rays and cleaning at my other dentist, paid by my insurance, and then I was facing literally thousands of dollars in bills because while they "took" my insurance, they weren't in network, and their rates were very high. So, we found Basswood Dental, and while we did have to pay some out of pocket, they worked with us, and both my husband and I were able to get the care we needed. Dr. Hans was so good and caring, she helped resolve my fears around getting fully numbed (which has been a problem in the past). I can't recommend going to her enough. She is a great dentist and really values your health and experience.

Dr Hans and her staff are absolutely wonderful! They are incredibly caring and kind. I have had great experiences at this office! I can honestly say I love my dentist! She is very thoughtful and she really cares about her patients. She is just so amazing. Also, Basswood Family Dental is reasonably priced, unlike other dentists I've been to. I won't go anywhere else.
