As someone who has dealt with chronic hip and lower back pain for the past four years, including one unsuccessful hip surgery, failed physical therapy treatments and a decrease in many of my daily activities, I was desperate for a remedy to the discomfort I was feeling. As I was hesitantly about to schedule a second surgery, I stumbled upon shock wave therapy as a non-invasive alternative to surgery. I aligned with the concept of stimulating the body’s natural healing process by relieving pain and releasing growth factors in injured tissue. At Avid Sports Medicine I was so impressed with the blended approach Dr. Veronica and lead athletic trainer Julieta provide to their patients. A combination of shock wave therapy treatments to help heal the physical body as well as physical therapy exercises to help heal our thoughts, habits and mindset around our injuries. This interconnected mind-body approach allowed me to naturally face the root cause of a lot of my injuries and re-correct my movements for increased strength, stability and confidence as I slowly started working my daily exercises back into my life. I recently completed my sessions with Avid Sports Medicine and am blown away by the results – in just seven weeks my hip has regained mobility, and the chronic pain has gone away. I now feel I have the tools to continue my healing journey, I am forever grateful to this team! Avid has an inviting and upscale studio feel to it with amazing offerings between sports medicine modalities (shockwave therapy, antigravity treadmill, gait analysis, massage, PRP, and much more) and fitness classes and 1-1 personal training offerings. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly, I highly suggest going to Avid for all of your fitness and recovery needs.

I came to Dr. Jow and her team when I suffered a groin injury. In addition to great 'bedside manner,' Dr. Jow brought in a physical therapist on staff to help me develop a curated exercise plan at home to assure that I would recover and get back to my activity as soon as possible. I think in summary, Dr. Jow and Liz who took (and are taking) care of me are great! To quote someone; they spent my money well. Didn't feel like any time was wasted. My treatment was focused on the injury caused by my sport in question (climbing) and I was paired up with an athletic trainer (Liz) who also climbed. This meant it was easy to communicate exactly how I injured myself. On top of actually addressing the acute injury, a lot of what I did was learn how to strengthen the parts of me that failed so that I would not have to come back for the same injury.
