I was advised by my dentist to see a periodontist for what appeared to be an infected tooth or gum disease. I was new to the Aptos area and researched periodontists.in the area. Dr. Avera had good reviews so I called his office to schedule an appointment. I found out that Dr. Richert had recently bought Dr. Avera’s practice.

I met with Dr. Richert. He confirmed that my tooth was badly infected and advised I have the tooth pulled immediately. He recommended the extraction for the same day and fit me into his schedule.

Despite my fear of a painful extraction, Dr. Richert extracted the tooth and recommended a short course of antibiotics to make sure the infection was eliminated.

The extraction was painless, but he had numbed my mouth prior to the removal and he advised I might experience some pain in the next few days. It is now almost one full day after the extraction and I am not experiencing any pain, I am not needing any pain medication and there is currently no noticeable bleeding in the area of the extracted tooth.

I recommend Dr. Richert for periodontal services without reservation. He definitely knows what he is doing.

Jill, my dental hygienist, at the practice of Dr. John B Avera, did a great job cleaning my teeth. I was very comfortable throughout the cleaning and Jill regularly checked in to make sure I was doing well.

Historically, I have a fear of dental cleanings, but Jill’s skill, technique, and use of adjunct therapies makes the experience very comfortable and anxiety free.
