I had an absolutely terrible experience with Dr. Alicia Zhou as my PCP. She could not keep my medications straight, quoting the wrong dosages and drugs back to me multiple times. Maybe she was very tired on that day, but this was the most minor grievance I had with her.

Every conversation with her felt like we were stuck in a loop where she continued to repeat vaguely reassuring nonsense instead of directly answering any questions I asked. Eventually I told her "I am only here to refill prescription X. That is all I care about. Can you do that for me?" Keep in mind that prescription X is a harmless, non-addictive medicine (you can literally buy a cream version of it on Amazon) that I was prescribed by my previous PCP and had been taking for approximately a decade. It is unfortunately a medicine I NEEDED to remain healthy.

She told me she would need me to see a specialist, who would want me to see a psychiatrist. This medicine is not an anti-depressant or anxiety medication or addictive or anything like that. I could not get a clear answer as to why on earth I would need to see a psychiatrist to refill a prescription I'd been taking for years. Eventually she simply told me that if I wanted my prescription refilled, I should travel over an hour to San Francisco and see my previous PCP, a doctor with the same title as her (not a specialist or anything).

This was early July, 2020, during what appeared to be the peak of the Covid pandemic, when 50k new cases of covid were being discovered each day. She knew all of this, because 1) She is literally a doctor. 2) I expressly told her I was trying to avoid breaking quarantine to go see my previous doctor (who was old fashioned and could not do a video appointment). In the end, I had to do exactly as she demanded. I broke quarantine and went and saw my old doctor, who wrote the prescription without hesitation. I told him about my experience with Alicia, and he condemned her in language not polite enough for a google review.

My advice: avoid Alicia.
