Went to this clinic this morning for my 10:30 appointment and sat thier 30 minutes when finally I got called up front to tell me my appointment had to be canceled and that I would have to come back well I don't live in town and I live way out. If thier was such a problem why didn't they call me. They made me another appointment for a week away and I was so mad I just canceled it and told them I don't know when I will come back. I think something is very wrong here.

The receptionist Tatum was very rude and acted as if I was an inconvenience with questions regarding my card on file. She showed a lack of common conversational respect drawing out words and acting as if my questions were “dumb” questions.

I went in this clinic on 4-11 with an awful headache. Everyone was nice that was not an issue. I saw Katie as they called her and explained I had hit my head on March 30th and didn't show symptoms until April 8th where I started having headaches and later vomiting. I was given a pain shot. She refused to write an order for a CT scan, and she refused to put in an order for a flu test(just so I could rule that out by the symptoms I was having...I was going through a lot at the time) until I insisted on getting a flu test. She said the CT and the flu test were not medically necessary because it had been too long. It was only 3 days since I started having symptoms from hitting my head and I felt I might have the flu again since I had it 2-3 weeks prior. I had to leave without the CT scan because without her ordering it my insurance would not pay for it. I believe they meaning her and the other nurses were talking about what was going on in my room because I had one nurse that came in asking me what was going on. I left and I wrote an e-mail about my concerns via Mercy. Never got a response back. I was not disrespectful at all. Just wanted answers. The next day had to go to the ER because of the same issues they did order a CT scan and the doctor felt it should have already been done. Later, I had to do a follow up with my PCP team. The APRN told me she would have ordered a CT scan being I hit my head just to make sure everything was okay and she did do the neuro testing as Katie did. Listen to your patients. You don't truly know how they feel unless you are in their body and all I wanted was reassurance I didn't have bleeding or a tumor in my head. You denied me that. I had to go and get it elsewhere and pay double the fees. I even called the business administrator which I felt only took up for her. We always remember how we are treated going somewhere especially a medical facility. This is a place you don't want to be anyway. As I have had people tell me before the health system is broken and it's very sad.

I went in a few months ago to get a referral for ADHD testing. I was asked if I wanted to get a blood test done, that I was assured was free and fully covered under my insurance. I then received a bill a couple months later for it later after insurance said the policy didn’t cover all of it, which the staff at Mercy should’ve known. I wouldn’t have agreed to a blood panel if it wasn’t fully covered.

Terrible service here. Dr shelnut is my provider and when I called to let them know I would be 10 minutes late they said it was fine. I got here before my 15 minute appointment deadline they still made me wait 35 minutes before they told me that Dr. Shelnut won't be able to see me at all. This is so disappointing that they would treat patients in this regard. I feel like I don't matter at all, I will need to get a new PCP after today's visit.

I was really sick and certainly did not want to sit and wait in a crowded waiting room. That was not what happened. I was called back almost immediately. Dr. did an exam and I was on my way back home. What @ miracle. Thank you Mercy Clinic.

Update March 2024: Wow has this place plummeted, compassion is at an all time low. The providers are extremely selective with which patients they choose to see if you don’t meet their requirements in terms of accepting their decisions and drinking their Kool-Aid, they want you to accept what they decide and could care less about a patients needs - expect little to no autonomy in your health care decisions. Also they seem to work extremely close together and I feel the doctors like to gossip about their patients as to who is the “problem patient” and you’re automatically treated like garbage - in my opinion Dr. Hazaa, Dr. Shelnutt, and APN Katie Long worked together to bully me canceling numerous appointments without explanation when I really needed to be seen - I didn’t want to leave this practice because they have all my medical records, but leaving this hell hole has been life changing - go down the street to Northwest Family practice across the interstate and give them a shot - at least you won’t be subject to bias based on health conditions.

Primary example - I was told I was not handicapped because I didn’t “look” handicapped- after two spine surgeries, years of PT, and endless rounds of epidural injections - I deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.

Finally - we’re not all seeking drugs or a free pass in life - some of us just want to get through everyday life without feeling terrible.

I started working at 14 years of age and I’ve worked hard and broken my back and now I’m dealing with the consequences of hard labor and at the very least I expect to be treated with compassion.

Original review from 3 years ago: I would like to share a 5 star review. I have received the most professional and exceptional care from this clinic. Dr. Mark Shelnutt and his staff give compassionate and wonderful care. His nurses call back quickly and I can personally say they listen carefully and relay information to Dr. Shelnutt. I have been to this clinic for over a year now and have referred my mom, sister, fiancé, and mother-in-law to Dr. Shelnutt. I trust him because he is very thorough, compassionate, knowledgeable, capable, and sincere. I strongly recommend him to anyone. Thank you for giving me wonderful care over the last couple of years. Excellent clinic in my opinion if not the best in the Mercy Health System clinics in the area. Thank you for all you do.
