Unfortunately, after performing work for over a decade, Mon Valley Care stopped paying their bills. (appears to be owned by Penn Highlands Healthcare) Without any explanation or reason, they have left a locally owned family business with almost 25,000$ of unpaid bills. We try to stay out of legal battles, but want to warn the public of their lack of integrity with us.

This is a deplorable nursing home. They are so short staffed, the place is dirty, call bells are not being answered in a timely manner. I would never recommend this nursing home to anyone.

My Mom has been a resident here since Sept. 2015.
She loves it.
She is treated with respect & always ask to make her own choices.
The food is good, the staff are friendly and caring, everyone puts the residents first.
She has many activities to keep busy as well as an outing twice a month.
She gets her hair done & nails done.
I can't say enough about Mon Valley Care.
From the maintenance to the front desk to the cleaning & laundry staff.. It's all good..
When Mom's happy we're all happy.
Good job MVC.

Mon Valley Care Center is outstanding. My Mother was a long time resident there and medical staff (Doctor's, Nurses, Nurses Aides) provided exceptional medical care. She needed kidney care and they ensured that she was transported timely and on schedule three times a week which was critical. In addition, the business office manager and her staff, the admissions office, and receptionists, were so knowledgeable and treated me and my family with the most utmost respect in providing information on Medicare, Medicaid, and all the eligible health services that Mother could be able to utilize during her stay in order to alleviate any additional stresses and financial burdens. The social activities office Director and her Assistant provided a range of activities that the residents could participate in . Mother loved Bingo and the games in addition to the other activities (Holiday Parties, eating out). The food menu was carefully planned with input from its residents. Maintenance keeps the Center clean and functional. Never a problem with heating or air conditioning issues. When you walk in the door, the atmosphere is soothing and the receptionists greet you with a kind hello and smile. If you are considering a skilled facility for your loved one or an assisted living place,,MonValley Care Center is the place for your loved one. My Mom was truly cared for. Thank you MonValley Care Center Staff. 9/6/2019

Delivered some Dunkin here for employees. They do like you to wear a mask for certain floors. Seems like a nice place

Room comfy and was able to get a shower in a portable shower bed. This is not found everywhere. Great staff too.

The MVCC is now known to my family as the
MV “no” CC. To start it’s definitely under staffed. Please do not send anyone you love or care for here! My loved one waited over 40 mins for a bed pan, hours for scheduled pain meds and waited half a night for doctors orders to be carried out on a very pressing infection.
I witnessed a cleaning lady, although she was very friendly, use a rag to clean the bathroom then same rag to clean my loved ones tray. Aides entering into patient room w/gloves already on. A wound nurse telling my loved one couldn’t go to pt and never reinstating when loved one could go... isn’t that what a doc should be doing? Therefore, my loved one was discontinued with insurance paying for the stay and treatments here. The PT dept is severely lacking and uncaring. I witnessed this first hand as well. A plan of action upon admittance for my loved one was announced after it had taken place and I was not aware of it. So much miscommunication and unprofessionalism from admins, ADON/DON, doctors, PTs and social worker. My family was rudely treated when confronted about a pressing infection that developed with my loved one. We were given many excuses for why treatment wasn’t being initiated. The aides and floor nurses are friendly and many work hard but basic sanitation is lacking by many employees. I cannot stress enough that although the government website on nursing homes say one thing, many times actual experiences by patients and families do not honestly match them. Many families/ patients may not know their rights to file formal complaints to the infractions that go on daily with the lack of knowledge and understaffing that occur here. Be aware, informed and pay attention to what is going on with your loved one.
Amidst the covid pandemic, I shutter to think the lack of care that many may be receiving in nursing homes such as this one due to the fact that their family members cannot be present. Please note that my family was present daily and the treatment was below basic need.

Absolutely the worst mannerisms by the nurse at the desk!! If you hate your job then leave do NOT hold it against someone being nice to you and the other staff. Shameful because I worked here previously and loved this place!
