Terrible. They do not respect your safety. They want to force you into situations that are a direct conflict.

On October 28th, 2020 I have nine months of sobriety. With the knowledge and tools provided at John Muir Health Outpatient 28 day Rehab on Port Chicago, I have been able to have a new and healthier life without cravings. The key to overcoming our illness is understanding your life does matter and living not just going from day to day in the same out of control destructive spiral The care from the professionals at John Muir Outpatient have taught me how to understand addiction, craving control, with customized therapy, a healthy diet, spiritual guidance, meditation, self accountability, and the skills to succeed after rehab along with weekly aftercare for a full year after completing the 28 days. One of the best parts of the program was the diversity of the patients and understanding addiction doesn't discriminate. I have recommended several people to this program who after completed are now living a happier full life.

I was admitted here in January of 2022 for detoxification for my alcohol use disorder.
I was not aware that I was being admitted into a psychiatric ward.
That was not the issue-- I understand why the facility was set up for those who had suicidal ideations and wanted to hurt themselves.

My main issue with this facility was the fact that I believe I was grossly under-medicated for my detoxification from Alcohol.
I was given the lowest dose possible for my withdrawal symptoms. I was sick and suffering. I was transferred to an inpatient facility where I continued to withdraw and required a continuation of detox meds where I was cleared by the MD on staff.

Despite my rant, I wanted to give a shot out to the nurses.
They truly looked out for their patients.

I attended the outpatient dual diagnosis PHP. This was not a good program for me. I am in my early 40s and almost everyone besides me was in their teens or early 20s. I felt completely out of place. I requested to switch to their regular PHP but was denied. The process group was not helpful at all. It was rushed and there were certain people who dominated the whole group. The rest of the groups during the day were mostly cbt and dbt which were also not helpful to me. I wish they had different types of groups to offer. The psychiatrist I saw was the worst. She had no personality, seemed very uninterested in trying to help me in any way or even talk to me. The program seems like a better fit for young people who are new to recovery. I felt like such an outsider. I’ve been in recovery for years and this program is just not what I needed. I mostly just heard people talk about their first time getting into recovery and less about mental health.

Stay away! This place is the worst. Very generic help and basic mental health professionals. There's good and bad people in every profession.
