I would like to take a few moments of your time to pay my compliments about the great patient care our family have been experiencing at Valley View Health and Rehabilitation Center at 5968 Wall Triana Hwy., Madison, AL.

When we admitted my mother-in-law, Zarina Majeed at your facility, we were nervous and quite edgy. We have been hearing the constant unpleasant news about the lack of professionalism and care at the nursing home facilities across the nation. But, thanks to your great team at Valley View, I have no hesitation in saying that your team at Valley View is an exception!

A company is as good as the employees it hires. The culture at any workplace is created by leaders – not managers. Full credit goes to Anita Chandler, the facility Administrator for changing the culture. Anita has always addressed our requests instantly and professionally, she has given us her cell number to call her 24/7 with any issues - and to us that shows serving attitude with customer first. We have peace of mind that she will always be there in time to address any issues.

Tammy McWhirter, the Director of Nursing at your facility is an another great example of leading by example. Whether we visit my mother-in-law during breakfast, lunch or dinner time, we have always seen her making rounds to ensure that policies and procedures are followed and the team is on top of the patient’s needs. A few times, we found some glitches, Tammy addressed them immediately – with follow-throughs to ensure that the mistakes are not repeated. It is wonderful to see a director of nursing walking the floor instead of opting to stay in the office. We do not have enough words to thank Tammy for her professionalism and care.

Next we will not be doing justice if I did not mention the name of your CNA staff that have earned our love and respect and stood out of the crowd. They are Ashley, Trinity, Kennedy, Denise and Arlene. Tanya, MAC at the facility is always going out her way to take care of her patients, her caring attitude always bring smile to Zarina’s face. Nutritionist, Donna have also been great to work with. We are grateful to each one of them for doing their job sincerely.

I was fired because I told ANITA CHANDLER I could not work on SUNDAYS because of religion matters but if I had too I would. She said “ well we don’t make special schedules”. They are short staffed and never answer the phone for there residents or their family. I am also 6 months pregnant and now I don’t have a job because of ANITA. Do not work here. Or bring your family. I also will be telling everybody to work there either. It’s very unacceptable. If I could give the review no stars. I would.

Unprofessional, no integrity and lack of ethics! Administrator put me on do not rehire list as a CNA despite never being employed there; because I thanked them for opportunity after interview, however I informed them I accepted another job offer?! I’m a nurse now and love my new workplace! Rejection truly is protection! 🙂

I was scheduled for an interview and the person never showed up. They also had a young lady sitting for over and hour and a half WAITING for an interview. Very unprofessional! You are the representative for your facility. If you can not present yourselves out the gate as professional then do not hold staff to the standard you do not meet.

My first review of this place will stand. If I could I’d give this facility negative stars. All I can advise is to not send your loved one here for care! After an extended stay in This facility I finally had to remove my mother. I immediately had to take her over to Madison hospital because the nurse and staff allowed my mother to suffer with bed sores, staff infection , and raw skin, and C-diff.

. Additionally when I arrived to get her they refused to render proper assistance to get her into my car. She was dropped during the transfer to the wheelchair then dropped when transferring into my car. The discharge was so very rude and refused to explain any of the meds they gave me or talk about treatment and care. To roll this back a bit, my mother had signs and symptoms of C-diff, and instead of treating it and isolating her, and informing us, the nurse decided they would leave all of the garbage and linens in her room for days to stink and fester, and not inform visitors. Additionally her nurse, once my mothers skin had become irritated and blistered, from the infection, decided my mother had an STD instead and said she was sending off a harpies test. I did indeed laugh at her ignorance! My mother has never had an STD. Incidentally I never heard another word about the test as I presume it came back negative!!
My mother, on the evening she was removed from this facility, was taken over to Madison hospital, where the lack and extent of neglect was documented extensively! Not only was she weaker, her amputation site was severely infected from the neglect, she had C-Diff, was malnourished, dehydrated, and injured on her left knee from being dropped BY THE STAFF. She had been vomiting for over 2 weeks and this informant wasn’t shared, a serious sign of CDiff. Let’s not forget about the bedsore that was the size of a softball that wasn’t being properly cared for. ( herpies test came back negative from hospital ) my mother had to spend Christmas in that hospital because of Valley view. This also set her healing so far back she’s never fully recovered and is now bed bound.

The staff is extremely rude and refuse to assist in next steps for care, transportation to appointments and help with needed paperwork. I set an appointment to discuss care and took off work and arrived on time to the facility for the appointment and it was like talking to cardboard boxes. No one was willing or knowledgeable enough to discuss how she was being treated, next steps or Medicaid. The staff refused to help with needed information to apply for assistance and only gave me 3 days to either apply for Medicaid long term or get her moved to my home. What I wrote below was just the tip of the iceberg! I won’t remove it and have taken steps to have them fully investigated.

So far my eyebrows are fully raised and I’m concerned. In less than 48 hours we’ve had three staff members become extremely rude with my mom who is currently in the rehab center. The first one, after aggressively sitting my mother up and hurting her, had the audacity to say to her” I can’t let you take your medicine while laying down because if you choke and die it doesn’t look good for the center. “, instead of telling her she was sorry when she hurt her. She was very rude about it also.

I was visiting today and the nurse came in and was extremely rude to me when I asked about the meds the dr placed her on. She actually had the nerve to snap at me like I did something. Wrong! I’m my mother’s caretaker outside of all of this so I am entitled to be informed.
In addition the evening shift nurse came inches from cussing at my mother who was shaking and swearing in pain when she asked about relief.
In addition , I’ll add that I’ve placed numerous calls to try to speak with someone about her stay and gain information and no one has answered the phone. So far I’m not pleased with what’s gone on. I’ll save the rest for speaking to administration about what I’ve seen.

I want to thank the entire staff for the care they gave my Aunt Carolyn. I was a little skeptical about Valley View because it snowing and the roads were iced over so I was unable to visit the facility before she was going to me admitted to the rehab. I called and spoke with Mary in the business office and she was very understanding about my concerns she was very upfront with me. She was h onest and told me they were short staffed. When we arrived at the facility I was amazed at the staff who were there. They were very nice and professional. Ms. Mary the manager came to my Aunts room and greeted us and her warm smile made me know this was the right choice for my Aunt. The rehab facility was always clean and smelled clean. Eventhough I was told they were short staffed we never felt it during my Aunts stay. William, Ms Dee, Kylie(Red), Shawn, the nurses, the Rehab team, housekeeping, food service the entire team did an excellent job at making sure my Aunt was well cared for. They were all very professional and loving not only towards my Aunt but me too. My Aunt would always tell me to go home and that they were doing a good job. Even when we got home she talked about the nice things the staff did for her. We are forever grateful for the entire Vally View staff. I highly recommend Valley View Rehab
